Hello all, my name is Justin and I am new to knife making. I am a Chef and have an obsession with being able to make everything that I use. I collect Vintage film cameras, build bikes, and play guitar as well as all of my Chef related hobbies like meat curing and fermentation. I have two nice chef knives that I use regularly but I want to make my own. I haven't found one that has a handle I like. My interst lies mostly with chef knives but also hunting knives as well.

My intention is to order some 1084 from Aldo and get some files and paper and get to work shaping my first knife. I just wanted to say hello and look forward to learning from all of you.

That would be a good start.

I would also suggest you take a look at the Hitachi Blue #2 steel that Aldo sells ( New Jersey Steel Baron). It makes great kitchen knives for professionals. The steel will file and sand like 1084, but with a good HT makes a fantastic kitchen blade.

I had looked at that on his website but didn't know much about it. I'll look into it farther. Thank you.
