Newbie Needs Help!!

Hi Folks,
I am a complete beginner and need some information on knife making..
I am wanting to build a fixed blade skinner and have found some beautiful lignum vitae handle blanks.. I have found some nice alabama damascus blades on ebay, but i need to know where to start. and what supplies i need. I have looked around and cannot find specific instructions on how to attach the handles or what method i need to follow on stock removal of the wood. Can you guys point me in a direction? any links or help would be much appreciated!!!

Read all the links. Great info and alot of it. I still go back to it. That will answer alot of questions.
 
Hey, thanks for posting that! :)

I made about 35 of those blanks and sold them, and I put together those pics to help the guys that bought them put handles on them.

I did it all real simple with a minimum of tools... trying to think of how someone could approach it if they DIDN'T have a full knifemaking shop out their back door.

You should put into your profile where you live. I'll be starting knife making classes in the spring.
