Newbie- Ordered first real knife

You also might want to try out different locking systems. Your Police is a lockback. The Sage 1 is a liner lock, the Sage 2 is an RIL, the Paramilitary is a compression lock. No one has mentioned a Manix 2 yet because it's probably going to feel bigger than your Police instead of smaller, but if you want to give it a shot, it's a ball bearing lock.

Delicas, Enduras, and Caly 3 / Caly 3.5s are all lockbacks like your Police.

The second knife: Sage 123TI (titanium framelock). The Para 2 was sold out. Also,I got a Spyder TriAngle knife 204MF (MF stands for?) . I updated my profile, and we have family in Texas.

Finally, I see how addictive these things are. The Police stainless is one incredibly nice sharp knife. It IS a big knife, opens with authority with a a final SNAP into ONE solid piece of steel. I like the high carbon VG10 japanese long steel blade. I do like the look of the stainless handle, and at the cost of some loss of grip, have no problem holding it with dry hands, and less with gloves.

The Sage 2 is a about half the weight, all titanium handles, solid s30v high chrome spear head blade.

I'm very happy with both of these and thank you (and curse you) for your advice, since i'm already looking for a third! I missed out on the M4 sprint run, and would like to find this somewhere.:)

This forum rocks! Did some reading and have a CPM M4 Millie on the way (from KW's). Thanks guys! (also, got a para 2 on the way as soon as they release the next batch).

Get one of the new colored full flat ground Delicas. You'll find yourself wanting a smaller, lighter knife than your SS Police.

I agree. Having a choice of blade sizes is key.

"Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't." (from the old Almond Joy / Mounds commercial !!)

The Delica FFG is an excellent choice for this. It will live in your pocket.

Welcome to the Forums! Be safe and stay sharp! :)
