Newbie question on flipper pocket carry safety

I vacillated over the flipper or non flipper question and actually decided on the non flipper but couldn't find one that I liked. Got impatient last month and reluctantly picked up an XM 3.5 flipper. It was my first Hinderer and first flipper. My concern of pocket deployment and/or flipper hitting things was quickly forgotten. As other have said tip up carry makes it nearly impossible to open in your pocket. Thoroughly enjoy this blade and the flipper is a large part of the reason. Yes, absolute blast and addictive to flip but I also find the flipper gives great leverage to rest my finger in front of it when choking down for smaller more detailed task. If you are curious about the flipper you defiantly need to try it. I'm enjoying that flipper so much that I bought a second XM 3.5 flipper last week.
 
Thanks gentlemen, I just received a 3.5 flipper slicer. All I can is WOW, this is by far the heftiest well made knife I've ever handled. Switched it over to tip up carry and am not worried about it opening up, like others said the detent is strong enough to keep it closed. Been drooling over the picture thread and I think the only change I'm making is a smooth carbon fiber scale, if I can find one. The black scale is decent but the CF dresses it up some. Thanks again for all the help.
 
Glad you scored, never have I had the unfortunate "bite" that some folks have spoken about. Tip up in front right pocket is my carry mode, easy to retrieve and opening is a breeze. Enjoy your new XM, knowing that you own one of the finest hard use dependable folders in the world made by really great people who believe in uncompromising quality.
