What is the best way to remove the handle scales on a fixed blade knife?
Depends on how they're attached and if you want to save them or not. If you're not worried about saving the old ones, then I would just break them off if possible. I've done this on an old Khukri that I was refitting. If you want to save the current scales then it can be a bit more difficult. If they're pinned on, you might have to drill out the pins. Of course be aware that a lot of fixed blade scales are epoxied on as well. Can't help you with that one.
