Hi guys. You've got a great site here and thought I'd better stop lurking and begin my education. I hope you don't mind stupid questions.

I've been looking around for information on the "how tos" of stacked leather handles and handle making in general with little or no luck. Can you point me in the right direction? General handle making information I've found...it's the stacked leather that I'm coming up empty with.

Thanks in advance. More stupid questions to follow.:D

RGraff I have never done a stacked leather handle but I hang around a whole lot of folks who do (I live in the land of Scagel), it seems to be a lot of careful prep work and then some easy finishing. One thing I have seen my frineds do is make a punch from a piece of sharpened tubing to help speed thigns along and eliminate waste. I should be more helpful but it was the title of your thread that made me want to chime in and say welcome and that I look forward to your future questions:).

Thanks for the responses guys...very much appreciated.

I understand the patience required for new guys and how you might question their (my) motivation and sincerity. I do my best to find answers to my questions either by trial and error (which can get expensive) to searching the web, library, etc.. When I have minimal or no luck I'll hazard posting a question and hope it's well received.

Thanks again for your help and patience.

I should add that, while I'm purely a hobbyist when it comes to knives, I do have a background in other areas (mfg/design engineering, welding, machining,). If/when the time comes that I can repay you for your help with information of my own I'll be sure and chime in.

Dude, Welcome.
One thing that someone sooner or later will suggest so I'm gonna be that someone: fill out your profile info so folks can offer you a shop visit or some such. I can think of a couple instances where it turned out someone with a question/problem was in the same town or within easy driving distance of someone who saw where they were located and invited them over, or offered to drop by and troubleshoot.
