Hi everyone, I didn't see an "introduce yourself" thread so I thought I'd just jump in.
My name's Tim, I'm from northern Illinois, and I've pretty much had a knife in my pocket for nearly 44 years. I think I got my first pocket knife when I was about 8 years old. One of my most cherished knives is the Western hunting knife my dad gave me on the way home from a fishing trip with our neighbors when I was 10 or 11.
The question is have is this - I picked this up this past weekend, but don't know what it really is. I'm hoping someone here can tell me who the REAL maker is on this little gem.
It's marked "Mephisto" and I'll sure can't find anything other than a handful of tools by Mephisto out there, let alone a jack knife. I have a friend who did some looking and he suggested it may be a Primble, EC Simmons or Cattaragus, but I can't find anything with a shield quite like this one.
Anyone have any info to share?
