newbie with knife ?s

OK I just found out I broke some pic rules; but anyway here goes: Just got this one at the St.Regis flea market. My friend wanted it but was out of money so he talked me into spending my last 20 bucks on it. It's marked CONN. CUTLERY NAUGATUCK (I think I spelled it right). not alot of info about the company, they were not in business very long, at least under that name. My question is, does it have a specific use? Cool as it is it seems a little big for a general purpose pocket knife.
Thanks
Bruce

I'm going to say- pruning knife. For use on a farm or in a garden cutting plants and plant material.

Do a google search for "pruning knife" to see many similar knives.

It's a folding pruning knife.
If you go the traditionals section and look around you'll find lots of examples of folding pruning knives.

Thanks guys; pruning knife it is. Now another question. What happened to the company? All I can find out is they were only in business from 1867 to 1883. It seems like pretty solidly built knife so I'm guessing quality wasn't an issue. Should I move this over to the traditional forum? I didn't notice it when I started this thread.
Thanks
Bruce
