Just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. Just getting started in knifemaking. Over the fall been going thru the usual baby steps. Got the books on the reading lists read em. Read the FAQ's. Made some really poor knives from old files LOL. Saving up to attend a class at the New England School of Metalworking which is 1/2 hour away from me. Next class is in the spring. Plan to spend the winter making a few knives. Going to order some 1084 from aldo to use for them.

I find myself wondered if anybody might be somewhere nearby and open to me visiting to sponge up some information about knifemaking

Not sure where you are relative to them, but have you checked in with the NE School of Metalwork in Auburn ME?

It's a bit slow to scroll through the alphabetical lists looking for folks greographically, but the ABS site has links to its Master and Journeyman Bladesmiths.

Shawn Fu is in Freeport. He might be able to tell-you-where-to-go. :D

Hi George,

You're more than welcome to stop by if you're in the Bangor area. I've got about three years invested in my shop and a pretty good collection of books on the subject.

You can get me anytime at 735-8976.

Dick
