Last night I heard a sad story about someone I know. He installed and finished wood floors.Using mostly polyurethane he never used any type of respirator. He is now functioning poorly as the chemicals have damaged his brain after many years ! While respirators and other safety devices may not be convenient ,in the long term they may save you from big problems !!

Sorry to hear that Mete.

I'm terrified of chemicals, especially our finishing and cleaning solutions. When I was a teenager I had a friend that I used to fly model airplanes with, he cleaned his airplane after flying and kept in his bedroom. He never woke up.

It's not the really hazardous stuff that gets us, we're all afraid of them and are careful when handling. The stuff that's not so bad in small doses tends to build up and kick you after a period of time.

Robert sorry to hear that, it's always sad to hear such things..

not as joke or anything but to add a little fear..
I feel most of the 9 years that I worked in an auto garage 6 days a week
with out ventilation most of the fumes got to me not to mention the lead from those fuels burned back in those years.. it's like smoking to commit suicide it will happen, it just takes a lot longer to get your wish..

Sorry about your buddy, Mete. Because of what you guys were saying about Micarta fumes, I went and upgraded my respirator filters.
