First of all, love the site. There is a plethora of information here. I am glad I found this site. I am new to this hobby. Usually I spend my days over on AR15.com. I dont know a whole lot about knives. I just started getting interested about a month ago. I got a CRKT M16-14SF and Ichi in a trade and thats what started my interest. After reading up on them I see there is some love as well as some hate but I think their awesome. The M16 is sharp as all get out and just looks great. I liked it so much I purchased a M16-13SF which is equally awesome. So starting with those little folders my collection has grown to this in about a month:

CRKT M16-14SF tan
CRKT M16-13SF tan
SOG Seal Team Elite TiNi
RAT RC-5
Ranger RD-6
and soon a Scrap Yard Regulator

Now I need to spend a lot of time in the maintenance section. With all these sharp things laying around I guess the next step would be to learn how to sharpen the correctly:thumbup:

Hi vickmacky. Welcome to BF. It looks like you've got a nice collection. I have or have had all of those, except Ranger. They are all great knives. I just sold my Regulators. Not because I did'nt like it, I was just trying to finance another knife. You migt want to check out Swamp Rat. They have a great deal on some of thier knives, if you pre-order. Check the out in the Manufactures section.

Yep I saw the preorder in their forum but I noticed you can't order anything from their website. They must be relatively new to the game? They look like really nice knives. Actually when I look around I have to say the Busse(sp?), SwampRat, Scrapyard, RAT, Ontario and Ranger knives all look very similar. Did they all sprout from the same company?

It's nice to see someone introduce themselves.
I’m looking forward to the increase in available 5.56 now that you are getting into knives. :D

Welcome

First of all, I live in the great state of Texas. I just haven't got around to updating my profile info yet. Secondly Doc, I dont think there will be much more 5.56 due to the fact that............well this good ol' Texas boy still likes to blast the heads off watermelons out in the back yard:thumbup: Honestly I've been working out and trying top get back outdoors and plan on camping and hiking a lot this summer so I just needed a couple good knives. I didnt think I would go out and spend $400+ on knives the first month. I am really diggin' these sharp instruments.

Welcome to the forums, Vic! Let me save you some time... Just take all your credit cards, all your cash, your kid's college fund, and the spare change in the tea pot in the pantry and just turn it over right now to Ebay. Then you won't have to go fumbling around trying to figure out how to pay for all your new toys that will 'somehow' arrive at your front door in the next few months. Much easier this way. :)
Right now, all you're thinking about is how much you'll spend on knives. You haven't even dipped into the 'sharpening syndrome' yet....

Its funny you should say that. Just last night I ordered a DMT red/blue Diafold for basic field sharpening. Now I'm just trying to decide which way to go for home sharpening. Some like Arkansas stones, some like diamond stones, and some like belt sanders:) I have no idea what I'm going to use.

Vick, Vick, Vick.... don't fight it son. Order some of each right now. You will, eventually anyway. :D

(Hey,... enjoy it. It's a wonderful hobby, and we're glad to share information. When you have a question, just ask.)

Welcome to bf.
The people here are great, you will soon be hooked on the forum as i am. Its nice knowing there are other knife nuts out there...good people.

Welcome aboard and enjoy !!!!

Welcome...
First, take the guess work out of sharpening and get yourself a Sharpmaker. You are going to end up with one anyway so don't even dick around buying anything else. Eventually everyone buys one, or at least almost everyone. Anyone want to chime in with an agreement, so we can save the poor fellow a little time and money?
