I have seen it mentioned that someone's new Sebenza had an actual hole drilled into the blade instead of the usual dent used for the ceramic ball detent. I am wondering if anyone knows a definite answer to the question "when did CRK start doing this?" I am curious....

I just got a sebenza a week ago and it has the hole all the way through the blade. I am new to the sebby club and dont know the reason for this.

If I remember it started seeing the light to the end of last year. I remember there was a lot of talk about the seb opening in the pocket for some unknown reason. As far as I know this would happen due to pocket lint that fills the detent hole and therefore the blade it not securely shut. With the hole going right through if the ceramic ball falls in the detent and there is pocket lint the pocket lint will be pushed deeper and deeper into the hole resulting in the dentent working as it was designed to and chances for accidental opening minimized. I might be wrong but that is what I think.

Yea, it's a "shit vent" as Mick Strider calls it. He has been doing this to his frame locks for a while now. Look around for the "unofficial Strider FAQ" it's there. Can't believe Chris Reeve got something from Strider.

I made a post about this a while back and have yet to hear a reply. I brought this up with Anne at the Shotshow last year in Portland. She didn't realize there was a change.;)

The "dent" is a small Reg and the "hole" is a small 21
