Here is my latest project, it is a boot knife i made with 1080 steel and buckeye burl (courtesy of Stacy). it took me forever to finish due to me suffering a broken finger, i definably think it is an improvement from my first knife, and it turned out quite nice.

the lanyard pin was made with 3/8 instrument tubing that i snagged from the shop (we go trough it like candy so there is always a chunk lying around. and the top hole was supposed to have a tube running through it, but when i drilled the hole the wood broke (at the thinest point), managed to get it epoxyed back together, theeeen when i went to clean all the epoxy out of the hole the other side broke big time and was not repairable, so i sanded it down and thats what i ended up with, a bit disappointing but i don't think it looks too bad. oh and the knife was finished with 800 grit (highest i could find around town) and the handle with linseed oil.

Glad you finally got it finished. I said I was worried about that thin section with a rivet in it. Learning to make knives is a process. Each one will ( at least ,should) be better than the last. Keep up the good work.

For fine sandpaper find an auto body supply store. They should have it up to 2500x at least.

Looks great to me.

Looks good to me. How does it cut?

it cuts great. and as for the hole in the thin, i know i should have not punched a hole through there but i wanted a knife with something like busse has the talon hole. drilled it out then changed my mind about it, the hole is a bit too big. i need to stop going with flashy designs, slow down and think about what i am doing a bit more. but i am learning. next one... No hole through skinny
