If you found $300 or so and could spend it on one knife, What would you get??? And Why?? I know allot of people make there knife purchases on a budget, but if you had say a $300 gift certificate to 1 Stop Knife Shop and could only put one thing in the shopping cart, what would it be??

Me, I think I would probably get a CRK Mnandi myself.

(Edited to Add) I think it is the perfect compliment to a Sebenza and they make a great combo

Well, it all depends on your taste in knives.

If you already have a Sebenza, id agree, a Mnandi is a nice sidekick. If you dont yet have a Sebenza though, the $300 would be better spent on a Sebenza, and on Ebay and in the forums, you can always find NIB Sebenzas for $300 or less. I just saw a picture of a Mnandi with the most beautiful blue bark mammoth ivory inlay, wow, what a killer little knife. I think CRK really took to heart the complaints of the past where people felt the knives were ugly or uninteresting looking. Theyre making some beautiful stuff now, and im a BIG fan of blue bark ivory.

But, with $300, you can go a different way, you could pick up a nice William and Henry, you might even find one with a damascus blade in this price range. They make some extremely fine knives.

And you can still yet go in another direction, like a Busse Active Duty for under $300, awesome fixed blade.

And yes, one could go in yet another direction, you can pick up a beautifully made Scott Cook hunter with damascus blade and premium snakewood handles for $300 in the secondary market.

And there are lots of other choices, but i think $300 would be $ well spent on any of these knives.

Megalobyte, Thanks for the info, I am curious what YOU would get??

I know everyone here has a want list. What do you have in the $300 range:)

If I came across a spare $300, I'd take $120 of it & play 2 trifectas at the Meadowlands. Take my winnings & buy a few great custom Bowies! Ahh - but nothing is a sure thing except Death & Taxes! Actually, I think I'd use that $300 gift certificate & ante up the extra $100 to get the Camillus Custom Shop Talon in Talonite/Cobalt with Fiddleback Maple scales. I'm also liking that OVB Fisk Bowie - Series II though!

One knife...$300 bucks?...It'd have to be a Camillus/Fisk OVB Bowie knife.

OK, well, if i HAD to choose one knife to blow $300 on, it would be the relatively new Busse Active Duty, i just really like that knife. Problem is, i HATE to wait, and i hear there's a wait, so, that being the case, what would i spend $300 on that i can get tomorrow (love that overnight shipping :) ) Let's see. Well, probably a Mnandi to go with my Sebenza, hmmm, that sounds familiar... :)

If I had $300 suddenly appear I would get one of the K.Tomey Stingers (mega and mini) being offered for sale in the Exchange under "Makers/Fixed Blades". If I was going to get one I might even add a few extra dollars and get a pair. (BTW, the reason I haven't jumped on those K.Tomey knives is that I already have a custom on order from her and need to keep some cash for the happy day when it is ready. I'm also holding back about $300 for the Chris Reeve Green Beret knife if it turns out to be good. I'm just waiting for some feedback or a chance to see it myself).

Edited for typos. Dho!

Tough one BadGuy!

It would be a toss up between a William Henry Spectrum with Stingray Skin Inserts and a Kershaw Ken Onion Whisper with a plain edge.

I guess if I had to pick one it would be the ....William Henry Spectrum.

Why not get two or three cool knives?
Quantity vs. Quality... Sometimes quantity lasts longer than quality.

MelancholyMutt, The main reason I say one I guess is lately I have been buying as many knives as my budget can allow, Sometimes more:eek: Most of these are Mid Range BMs, Spydercos, Microtechs, Etc Etc.. Most in the $100-$150 range. Don't get me wrong, they are all great knives, but I think my tastes are changing for higher quality. So I am just curious what others like at this price point.

hey TBG,
My first foray into higher priced knives came in the form of the Dozier Freedom fighter in D2. If I wuz you, I'd look into low priced knives that don't have the "name factor", using expensive steels.

The Dozier cost me almost three and a half bills, but I suspect that about a hundred of that is for the name brand (which I happily paid).

I was looking at this the other day, WilsonTactical.com

I suspect that these are three hundred dollar knives priced under 250. I especially like their model 11 which uses 1911 grips. I think most of the knives here, if not all, are made of D2.

Thanks for the heads up on the site. I have been using Wilson parts on all my 1911s for years and never knew they made knives.:)

I'd dig under my couch for the extra and get myself a Criswell 31" Katana! :D

Of course, if I couldn't find the extra $100 there ( :p ), I'd probably get the Buck/Mayo.

If I had an extra $300 right now, I'd probably look for some kind of small, decorated/wood inlay/etc. Sebbie. Either that or a Mnandi like others have suggested.

I guess I'd buy a Ken Onion/Kershaw Boa--the one with the multi-colored handle and bright blade.
I handled one at a knife shop in Pineville NC (an expensive mall shop I might add), and I was very impressed with the knife. And it's just too cool with that speedsafe mechanism.

Good luck,
Allen.

If I had $300 that I could justify spending on a knife, I would get two: I'd spend c. $200 on a Dozier Professional Guide Knife and c. $100 on a PCKS custom Buck 110.
