So my company gets hazardous waste from other states, I can't explain anything beyond that. We have to go through the waste to insure it is what it's supposed to be and to sort it for further processing. Usually we get knives, and fortunately I'm the biggest knife nut the company has.

So today I go these, a newer Buck 110 and a older Buck 312. They cleaned up well, the 312 looks like it got run over on the road. My question is on the 110. Do I leave the blade, send it in for a new blade or turn it into a sheepfoot blade? What is the policy on repair anyway?

Man, those are some great finds. I would send the 110 in to be repaired or find someone who can put a new blade in it, there is allot of the tip missing.

Cool beans on your find Sithus1966

I would do as Hillbilly Bob recommended. Send in that 110. You'll be a happy camper in a few short weeks :)

put a new blade on there,,,send it back too buck,,but the sheepfoots idea sounds interesting ..

Looks like damage done through user "abuse". Look at the pivot pin. The only way I see that happening is if the knife was used to pry something very hard.

I can't see the date on that 312 but it looks like it has:
1. Been in the sun. 2. Or wrapped up or closed up a spell. Take some Gojo and gently scrub it, then really hot water and then a squirt or two of WD-40. Wipe down ,good oil on blade pivot, some mineral oil or furniture polish on Delrin scales.

The white coating is a breakdown residue of the - Polymethelenesomethingorother (Delrin) clean it off and oil to seal from atmosphere.....and its harmfull effects..cough,cough.
The newer model of all 300s have a different plastic scale material that is more stable but doesn't get that aged horn look from years of handling....

I think I'll just sheepsfoot it. Thank you for your thoughts. And yes free is good.

If it were me, that's what I'd do. I may be wrong, but I doubt that Buck would replace the blade on the 110 and send the knife back to you free of charge. The knife appears to have been abused and I don't believe that it would be covered under warranty.

Unless the knife had sentimental value, I don't see it being cost effective or worth the time, effort and expense, since you can pick up a new one at WalMart for under $30 complete with sheath.

So this is how it looks with it's new "point". Kinda looks like my new CRKT Tuition with the rising point.

There is no coating, it's just a bad picture. I really need a light box. Here is the date stamp.
