I my self was once a Busse doubter. Not because of the price. I have coveted custom knives for most of my life (I blame my uncle who was a custom maker for getting me interested at a young age). I have seen many many custom knives that cost much more than production busse, so the sticker shock was not too bad. I admit, the first time I found Busse's site, I did not like the knives on there at all (I think it was some off design, like a SS, which is now one of my favorites, or the scotch dispenser). The FBMLE was the one that really started it for me.

I started out with a Swamp Rat Camp Tramp some years ago, and left it at that. The "real" Busse prices were scaring me away. After starting to get more interested in fixed blade knives, I was looking at Busses again. Then I saw Noss' destruction test videos and figured I had to add a Busse to my collection.
I thought the ASH 1 would be an appropriate choice for my first Busse. I ordered one. While I was waiting for it, I bought a Skinny ASH and a BAD from the company store. I went from none to three in a flash. I haven't even used my BAD yet and I'm wondering what handle color to buy next....
