Saw this while browsing the knife exchange. Looks like someone over at CRK was listening. :)
Just goes to show CRK is always listening to their customers and always striving to improve the
overall function and design of their knives.

Heres a link to the thread where I saw some pics of the new design. I like how the lock stop is also
the same finish as the rest of the knife.

oh fantastic... now that is sexy!

but crap... now the old ones are gonna skyrocket in value.

WOW, To me, thats is 110% better. It looks made of Ti and the logo really adds to it. When funds are available, I will definitely get one. I like the newer umnumzaan design changes, mainly the lockbar release as its easier to disengage the lock. I like the Idaho Made too. Looks like I am going to have to sell something..........lol.

Chris only added the lockbar stop because people were bending out the lockbar to lessen the lockbar tension, then when issues arose, they complained about the design. I spoke to Mr. Reeve for about 1/2 hour awhile back and got the low down on the umnumzaan design. I can just say, I was in awe when I hung up the phone. Great Guy, Great Knife. Thanks Mr. Reeve.

Hmm I would have to disagree, I think the plain jane LBS one looked better, but hey different strokes for different folks. What IMO would make it awesome is if they polished it, but I'm a sucker for polishing ^_^

It's amazing how small changes can make such a difference. In the first place the lock stop did not look good, but just by adding the CR logo it changed it to look much better, IMO. I'm still not convinced the disk was the best way to combat the problem but they sure took a step in the right direction by dressing it up a bit. It still looks like its made of 300 stainless to me but they may change to Ti eventually, if they haven't already.

I'll have to try and get a hold of a few "CR disks" for some cufflinks or something. :p

Funny... I just got one that was literally born a couple of days ago... No CRK LBS was on it. Odd?

Agreed, looks much better now.

I'm still not convinced that this disk is the right solution to the overextension issue, though. It's an afterthought that goes against the simplicity the Seb and Umnum are known for.

Thus, these subtle changes are a bit like lipstick on a pig.

Its funny, most cried and complained about the old LBS, now people will complain that the old one was better and don't like the new ones. Can never keep people happy. Its amazing how people always try to find the littlest thing wrong with perfection.....!!!! I for one Love the change and will be getting one. Thanks Chris, the change to this design helped you sell at least one $425 knife....lol. Keep up the most amazing work.

Judging from the same finishing as the lockbar, could it be titanium as well? Nevertheless, it's a step in the right direction for CRK imo. Next thing is to wait for them to ramp up the production of these beauties.. :D

I'm still holding on to my Umnumzaan that do not have this disc; however, pleased with the change - logo looks good.

I think I remember suggesting that from the other thread. It would be awesome if they used a Ti disk, it is much improved IMO though.

That is just a blasted finish, it would look like that on any metal it's done to. That still looks like steel to me but Ti can have different colours when blasted even from the same bar stock so it's not impossible that it could be Ti.

I was upset with the horrible disk on my Umnumzaan... and now CRK made a great advance!

Im very pleased with the change & wish mine also have the logo :)

WOW!!! Check it out! I never thought they would make the change to the disk that quick!

Looks ALOT better!

personally it looks alot better than the other design, but I still prefer it with out anything
