By comparison, a real damascus manufacturer, like Alabama Damascus, achieves 416 layers by starting with 13 layers of different steels and folding it 5 times (13 x 2^5 = 416).

I'm guessing they meant 200 layers.

So, I totally forgot to update this thread after recieving the "knife". Turns out you guys are correct, as always. NOT real damascus. And, I found out why I got mine cheaper than most. It had a warped blade. The seller says he stated there was a prob w/ the knife, though I couldn't find it on listing. And, even if it did say that, it should've specified what the issue was. Regardless, my error was not consulting the gods 'o knives, aka bladeforum, before purchase. Luckily, it wasn't a costly mistake. Oh, and what did I do with the bent blade? see for yourself, lol
