Floppy Ears Rule!
My Dobermann has full floppy ears and they look great. He lost his tail at 2 weeks before I had any say and I just saved the ears at 8 weeks. With one exception, anybody that had comments said they were glad to see it.
Ear cropping and tail docking is now illegal in England, Australia and apparently several other countries. It was originally thought of as a way to avoid giving another dog or person another handle. Not much of a factor for most folks now.
Another angle is that about half the people I meet don't recognize my dog as a Dobermann and find him more approachable. That's a good thing in my case. I did raise an eyebrow when one mom brought her toddler up and let him put his hand in pup's mouth. Not a problem or I wouldn't have let the little fellow get that close. Others mom's pick up their kids and cross the street.
