Any of you who know me know that I HATE overpriced crappy products. Well Yesterday I was at a gun show talking to a knife dealer about BMs... He mentioned that BM is "really getting on top of their QC issues," so In my disbelief I thought I'd prove him wrong (again). I checked out a few Griptillianes and Osborne Axis locks......

And they were great! NOTHING like any BMs I've EVER checked out before. NO BLADE PLAY IN ANY DIRECTION ON ANY OF THEM!!! I've displayed my disgust with BM many times in this forum. I have been extremely disgusted with what BM sells as a $100 knife. If a $100 BM and a $100 MT were side by side and I had to choose, I cant say I'd choose the BM, but I'm here to say that they are on the up and up. Before this I would'nt poke a BM with a stick. If the QC is equal.... there is a Levitator lock in my future...

Also, I would assume any show models are either hand picked from production or "custom" from the factory.

I would imagine this is true for all the knife companies.

Even if the show models are hand picked, just think about how many people pick them up and play with them throughout the course of a day at a show. They must get some wear and tear, espically by flickers! Maybe the sales reps tweak them, but I doubt it!

I didn't know BM had a problem with blade play. Never heard of that one before.

One of their main problems is improper alignment with the blade closed. My only Benchmade has this problem, and I have heard many others complain of it, too.

I think Benchmade has some F&F concerns, at least they did.

But I don't know if the quality of the knife itself is less than the Microtechs. Microtechs do seem to focus on F&F; Benchmades, however, focus on innovation (Axis lock) and materials (M2 steel). Benchmade's Axis lock is superior to Microtech liner locks. Benchmade's M2 steel is superior to the 154CM steel MT uses.

Lock quality and blade quality are pretty important, I would say. I suppose the MTs might be prettier, but if my life depended on it, I would choose the BM.

Not sure how to quantify that, but... in my experience, MT's edge was sharper, stayed sharper longer, always than anything I've owned; by Benchmade. As far as locks go, my SOCOM never gave me lock problems, and was much easier and more secure to handle than anything i"ve owned by BM, save for one exceptionally comfortable and ergonomic Benchmade, the older version of the Mini-Reflex. Wish they'd make THAT handle in a fixed blade!

I could see your point if this was a knife show and you were at the Benchmade booth. Most of the knife dealers at gun shows don't have this kind of pull with the Manufacturer or depth of inventory.

If you do a search you'll see that for a while I also stopped buying Benchmades due to QC issues. I've been buying them again for a few months and every sample I've had has been excellent and definite keepers. Now the biggest problem I have is bankrolling the expense of getting some of the Benchmades I've been putting off!

I think for around $125 you can't touch the AFCK in D2 or a 710 (in any steel) and the TSEK Axis is a true bargain.

I have an Escent and it has blade play. And their 154CM steel is by far the worst I've ever seen. It's harder to form an edge and it looses it's edge quicker than any of my other knives. Aus8, Aus6, 440, CPM440V, etc.

Zytif: Why don't you stop bitching about everything? You piss and moan about the Spyderco serrations and now you complain about Benchmade. Shut the hell up if you're just going to whine.

The BM Ascent is Benchmades cheapest model. I think its a POS, however I wouldn't even include it with the BM line. Compare that to ANY of its other models and its like night and day

No. I'm gonna bitch and you're gonna listen.

I guess you're too new to know about the "Ignore" feature of the forums...

No sorry never heard of that before...

Go ahead ignore my posts. But you'll be lost without my guidance. :)
I think I'll ignore you instead. That Xterra is blindingly fugly. Yellow does not belong on cars, or knives for that matter...

Plenty of people have Benchmade's (myself included) and think they are great knives. Why don't you go buy some Ginsu's maybe they will make you happy.

P.S. This is a knife forum, we don't care about your Glock pic.

And I doubt if anyone really cares about your Abraham Lincoln quote. Instead of going around quoting what others say, why can't you just come up with something on your own? Instead of going around being somebody's parrot.

My what a zippy retort! (;))

Let's see, which response should I use...

A. Please ignore my posts - I would hate to share my knowledge with someone like you.

B. Oh yeah, well you suck, and, and, and, plastic does not belong on guns, just on the little white safety helmet the doctors keep telling you to wear when you go out in public.

You really sound like a disgruntled former employee of Benchmade, either that or the maintenance guy finally crushed and threw out the box you were living in behind their factory and this is your form of revolt...

Geez... I don't know I think I'll just try to be like you n' go molest my expensive knives with some crappy sheaths and slap on some ugly panels. Ta da! Look what I made Ma! Look what sonny boy made! :) Orange handled knives are the hippest thing in town! I think I'll jump in my big ugly yellow Xterra and drive down to the local knife store to pick up some more expensive knives to **** up. People like you make me sick. Why don't you sell some of those over priced hunks of scrap metal and donate to a good cause. Ya big sick yellow Xterra drivin' doof. :)

Glad to see you came around. I love Benchmade products and have quite a few of them. I had 1 prob with my 710 and BM was right on the ball and hooked me up with one that is absolutely perfect! 2 thumbs up to Benchmade!!!!

P.S. BM keep up the great work on your Balisongs!!!;)

Boy Zytif, you sure are trying to make a name for yourself aren't you? Any guess on what that name is?

Is there a "T" Pat?

Why, yes, there is one "T".

T _ _ _ _

Any other guesses?
