Just a heads-up...don't bother with ordering anything from Newt Livesay "Livesay Combat Knives" :jerkit:. He's quick to send invoices and very responsive to emails UNTIL HE GETS YOUR MONEY...then he's GONE and you'll never see your knife.

I waited 3 months for my NRGS and now I've been waiting 3 weeks for my refund that's been promised TWICE!!!

SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! Don't get sucked in by all his propaganda about "Supporting the troops"...BS...I'm a Desert Storm Veteran and I'm not feeling the love Newt. Thanks man! Not the "support" I was looking for.

You've been warned. Good luck!

Sorry to hear that.

How did you pay? If it was with Paypal or a credit card then you can probably get your money back (especially with a CC). I buy everything I can with a credit card. Not only does it help your credit but it gives you lots of protection in case you are ripped off or the card is stolen. Hope you get your money back. You should also post a similar thread in "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" subforum located in the exchange here on BF. Lots of people look there before making a purchase and will see he is not a trustworthy person to deal with.

If you are discussing knives, go to the General Knife Discussion.
If you are discussing deals, go to FEEDBACK.
I have moved this thread there.

Sorry to hear about your experience, but Newt Livesay is pretty famous for taking people's money, and that's the nicest way I can put it. Been doing if for years and years and years...

Do a search on just about any knife forum.

You had to learn the hard way, but now that you've joined BF, you can do a search on most knifemakers in the G B & U subforum before you send money off.

Sorry...rookie mistake. Thanks for getting me to the right area. I should've joined months ago and save $$ and headache. I guy I've been talking to in New Zealand is out $350!!! Small penies to my $54 but it's about principal and integrity to me. I do what I say I'm going to do and I do the right thing whether it benefits me or not. I wish everyone lived by this "code". Unfortunately...we have to live with POS like Newt.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Glad to be here.

Past time to put this scammer in the can. He's free because people say "Oh well."

I honestly thought Newt Livesay had merited a Hall of Shame thread, but I guess not.
You can at least send him a link to this thread.

I never do business over a forum, but I am going to make a reversal for you Jon. I should use your name, but I want. Your are from California, and you contacted me via an email. You used another email address under someone else's named “Shawna.” This is you correct? You ordered a knife, and I told you we were behind, Here is a portion of the email that we sent.

Newt,

I'M NOT AT THE RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA ADDRESS!!! *I've told you this at least 5 times. *I moved 2 months ago.

My address once again is:

2XXXX Las XXXX
Laguna Hills, CA 92653
I paid you over $9 for shipping. *I expect expedited shipping this time.
A knife that size can't cost more than $10 to overnight. *
I don't think that's too much to ask seeing how I've been waiting for 2 months.
This is ridiculous.
Jon

Once we traced the order after you said it had not gotten it to you, Here is the EMAIL BACK TO YOU;
---- Newt Livesay <newtlivesay@gmail.com> wrote:
Jon a couple of things here quickly. *Attached is a pdf note on shipping.
You should have gotten this on Sunday night. *I am resending it. *Second, I
have not received numerous phone calls, BUT I will accept the problem on
this end.
Your order was NEVER put into our system. *The electronic invoice is number
354 is correct, but the work order number 5206 was assigned to another
customer. *Your payment was applied to another customer with the first name
of Jon also, from Carlsbad, CA.92010. *Thus, no one was looking for you. *I
apologize for this mix up. *Your order has been amended and the order will
go out with the bulk shipments that are being shipped all this week. (See
Attached pdf ) The new work order for reference is 5225.

With the large amount of orders that I have, I am lucky that this has
happened only one other time recently. (ADDED NOTE 1-6-11; It has happened twice, plus one customer doubled shipped. He refuses to send back extra knives) *So again, I apologize for the delay,
and if you need to contact me email at newtlivesay@gmail.com, until our
electronic phone system is repaired and upgraded.

Sincerely
Newt

This is where we will send the payment:
** Jon Williams
26451 Las Alturas
Laguna Hills, CA
*
92653
*
We will send you $54.60 USPMO, via USPS.* That is the amount we charged you according to the invoice.* Overnight shipping cost would have been closer to $32.00 to your destination.* I did however mis-quote you $1.60 on the postage and that was returned with the order.*

I should have quoted you the standard 90 days delivery.* However that is neither here nor there.* I did not get the knife to you in time.* I will send you the $54.60 that you paid us.
Newt
NOTE ADDED 1-5-11, you paid only $54 and that is what we send you back with USPMO, we have the receipt in your file if you need it.

Jon;
We just got the package back from the POST OFFICE yesterday, Tuesday December 28th. The package had been soaked in water and the seemed to have been crushed and wrung out. The whole mess had been put into a plastic bag.* Knife was partially out of package, but the order was complete.*

I will see that a refund is send out today Wednesday, December 29th, via the USPS.
ADDED NOTE 1-5-11: The extra $1.60 cash was missing from the package, no big deal.

12-27-10 This is the short versions;
BACK TO ME: Thanks Newt.

Newt,

You said you "would see to it that my refund was sent out on Wednesday, 12/29"...it's now Wed, Jan. 5th and still no refund. * Please don't reply with another empty promise (some call it lying). *Just send me my refund like you said you were going to do. *It's not hard.

Jon

Jon, if you refund is not there it is the fault of your post office.* It was sent to you on Jan. 3, 2007, the first day the post office was open since we received the package back. If you wish, I will begin a search for it.

By the way, you will have to sign for the envelope to receive it.

NOTE 1-5-11
There are a e-note between this, but these are the relevant post. Did I mess up this order? Yes. Do I mess up many....NO!

I TRIED TO POST THE PHOTO OF THE BOX, BUT COULD NOT FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO IT. IF YOU WANT TO SEE IT EMAIL ME AND I WILL SEND YOU A PHOTO, AND YOU CAN STICK IT WHERE EVER YOU WISH. THIS FORUM IS WHAT I MEAN.

Wolfman601, You are right, poor communications on my part as well as a customer.

Karda; So, if I say nothing, I am a SOB, and if I answer back i am an SOB? What would you have me do?

Not answer back like an SOB.
Other makers have risen above this type of banter and made things right.
I'm not one to tell you how to run your business, but, if you check this forum there are far more than this "one" customer, dissatified with you. Going back years. And some have been waiting years. Instead of fighting with your customers, perhaps your time would be better spent making sincere apologies to those whom you owe money or knives and organising yourself so that you can actually deliver the goods as promised. Perhaps it would be a good thing to make right with customers who've been backlogged before taking new orders. I don't know where you are in that process, or if you're even trying. But it seems to me that you've brought the negativity on yourself, and only you can make it right by your actions and words. Blameing the customer and arguing is not going to accomplish that. In fact it only serves to make you look bad and the situation worse.
I do not own any of your work, but by most accounts it is top notch. If your business practices could match that level imagine what positive things would be said about you. Think about your legacy.

I hate quoting Cliff Stamp But he was a very succint fellow, and i think this one from him says what many feel.
I had problems with him of the same type, long delays, date after date missed, no communication unless you kept forcing the issue. He makes great working large bush knives in well matched steel, one of the very few who does so and incredible prices, the AK looks excellent but I would never deal with him again.

-Cliff
