I've recently gotten into knives, like most people here I started young with my grandpaw hand sharpening knives and I was fascinated. So I've had several pocket knives in my time but am now able to splurge a little here and there. So far I have
1. ZT 0450
2. Southern grind Bad Monkey
3. PM2
And a few other cheaper knives
My question is where do I go next?
Was thinking about the BM 940 series or some more zt's, any input would be great. Read the forums all the time

I was going to suggest going further down the spydie road, though you mentioned BM and ZT. How do you feel about the PM2?

If you want to go with ZT, I think the 0566 is a great EDC and all around choice if you're into assisted openings. Have not owned a 540 but have heard great things!

I think the PM2 lives up to all the hype, I carry it daily. Not crazy about the g10 scales though

One I just saw today that looks really nice is the G10 Lionsteel TRE. It is a sub 3" ti-framelock flipper in M390, and it looks really nice. It is around $200, which looks kind of what you are considering spending anyways.

Otherwise, and I know it is kind of stereotypical, I always just save up for new variations of Chris Reeve's knives, so I would recommend a Sebenza for $150 more brand new or considerably less on the forums here.

I prefer mixed and varied collections so I'd say go for a Benchmade. Too many good knives out there to hang up on one brand, style or steel. Keep 'em different....

Check out cold steel. The recon1 and code 4 are good ones. Can't go wrong with a zt 0562. Spyderco has a great selection, definitely browse through their offerings. My next purchase is going to be an emerson folder, look into them as well.

I have my eyes on the LionSteel Ti-spine. I've never purchased from this company before. But one of these with Damascus sure looks good to me.

I always had pocket knives but just got big into quality knives pretty recently myself. I started out really into modern folders and still really like them but lately all I care about is slip joints and traditional knives. If these interest you at all great eastern cutlery makes fantastic knives and the 15 or 77 frame make nice edc's. Just another option.

Give the 940 a go. Have some options now with it regarding steel (S30V, S90V, CPM 20CV) and handle material (Aluminum, Carbon Fiber, G10). It's on of the best EDC personally I think. ( besides a small micarta insingo but we don't want to venture down that path… Not yet at least :p )

^^^ With what Tiverton said as well. Great Eastern Cutlery ( GEC ) is just pumping out some serious great traditional knives. Those #15 and #77 he mentioned are top shelf choices. Once you get bite by the traditional bug though you might find yourself selling your moderns.

Try the Ritter Griptilian with m390 steel from Knifeworks. 140.00 and one of the only good buys left from Benchmade. Cold Steel Code4 is also a nice knife and a good deal.

Reate Torrent, Reate D9 Plus, Kizer Intrepid, Kizer Kane, Spyderco Nirvana. Wait a minute that's my list :-). There's no right or wrong to buy, you buy what you like. It looks like your off to a good start. One thing I would sugest, buy a pair of Casey Lynch AL or Ti scales for your PM2. They make it a much nicer knife to carry in my opinion.

Cant go wrong with any Chris Reeve knife, the Sabenza 25 is the perfect length for me. Or the Southern Grind Spider Monkey which is a sexy little knife. Also Spartan Blades make a cool folder called the Akribis. I have one of these too and it is extremely smooth and well built.

Self-destruct in five seconds.....

Since I started this knife craze I've had my eye on a carbon fiber insingo. I don't know if I want to go that far down the rabbit hole this early. Once I do that I'll only wanna go further. Right now that's my grail knife

Get your first Benchmade Axis knife. The 940 is hard to go wrong with. The 484 Nakamura is a sweet smaller blade as well.

Good luck in your decision. Looking forward to pictures.
