As gift to myself for my birthday i want a small fixed blade knife.
I cant decide between the folowing Spydies:
-Mule
-Street beat
-Reverse.
I have small hands, and the knife will be used to edc cutting tasks.
I can buy either for around 150$,and all though i'm a Spyderco fan,if you can sugest knives from other companies i will be happy to take them into consideration..
Any ideas?
Thanks

I also love Spyderco fixed blades, and in that size and price range I'd recommend none of the three, but the Ronin.
Second would come the Street Beat, hard to beat a Perrin design.

I'm personally a big fan of the street beat. The knife and the sheath are both great. Feels great in the hand and the VG-10 is crazy sharp out of the box. I really dig mine.

The Becker BK14/Esee Izula are quality EDC blades for under $100.

If you're looking for production knives over $100 the Bradford Guardian3 is a classic with great steel for not much.

For slightly more, the production Fiddleback Hiking Buddy and Runt are two fantastic designs with good steel and great ergos.

I have seen good bargains on the exchange, a lot of nice utility knives, are you going for carbon or stainless? Some of my favorites have been the small hunter or neck knives by Dwayne "Duck" Childress, JK knifes, GL Drew, Lucas Forge, some hunters from AF knives, and a Kephart by Redsquid2. Lastly, LT Wright or Battlehorse knives. Sorry, just had to mention them, the idea is to give a good idea of all the talented makers we can find and support here on the forums, as well as a few others.

No help with Spyderco but I just got my first fixed blade, a BM162, and it is stellar- great balance and build quality. I had the BM119 but it was just too much knife. Good luck, I'm a Spyderco fan.

My wife recently bought me a Tops Tom Brown Scout this past Sunday, and I love it. I haven't tested the edge retention yet, but it is very light and carries easy.

I've had the Yojimbo and couldnt bring myself to love it,no matter how hard i tried, mostly because of the hollow grind. The ergos are great,though...

Since you specified small fixed blade...
I'll agree with the Guardian 3 recommendation; and suggest that you opt for the 3D scales. (Hand feel is a big thing for me - if I don't like how a knife feels in my hand, it gets left behind.)
I'll also throw a few others into the mix. I do like the Spyderco Mules, with Halpern (Option 4) scales; but it feels like a bigger knife in comparison to the others, and you said you have small hands.
Pictured, top to bottom:
LT Wright Patriot, Bark River Mini Fox River, AG Russell (don't remember the model number, I've had it for over 20 yrs), Malanika EDC, Guardian 3s (wharny + regular, both FFG), Spyderco Mule, Daniel Fairly EDC (I'm going to have to do something about the handle, which doesn't quite work for me

Another vote for a maker here on the forum.

duckchildress and Austin Goldman are two I've been keeping my eye on.

An example of what $90 can get you....

FYI. Even if you see something and the specs and/or colors aren't what you want. Feel free to email a maker and let him (or her) know what you are looking for and your price range. Most are more then willing to work with you. Good luck!

I'm about to pull the trigger on a Street Beat frn-i can get it for less then half the price of the micarta.
I dont mind the frn,the only thing holding me back is that hideous coating on the blade,on the other hand it will save me 100$...
Thanks again for all you replies and especially for the photos. They helped a lot.
Have a great week-end.

Consider Google-ing around for the Enzo Necker, or Elver, or Trapper -- same basic idea in three different sizes. Full tang knives made in Finland, most are available with either Scandi or Full Flat Grind, and ofteen in different steels. Most are also available in kit form. (You attach the handle to the tang, allowing you a lot of choice in handle material/shape, but with increasing do-it-yourself work as you increase flexibility.)
