Next James Bond Wants to Ban Knives

Could that possibly be because all those people are violent and dangerous?
Nah it's definitely all the scary inanimate objects that people use to put holes in others, we can actually ban all those scary things so they must be the true problem.
We just have to ban the scary things.
Never! People have no responsibility for their actions. It's the the "thing" wot dun it! ;)

Well, when you restrict the rights of the law-abiding because of the actions of the law-breaking, that puts the law-breakers in charge of the law-abiding, now, doesn't it? And doesn't that put all who would do such things squarely on the side of the law-breakers? That's more SMERSHy than, say, Her Majesty's Secret Service-ey.

I think the man is a decent actor, but I don't have much use for non-pointy knives. That's the actor equivalent of a role that has no point, or a character with no edge.

This is all working towards the Perfect People's Paradise , Totalitarian Heaven .

The common people are all disarmed , helpless and docile . Totally defenseless .

The State and its Police / Military are in absolute control .
They should cut to the chase and literally chop off the population’s arms.

Blunting kitchen knives? Idris going to set up a special police dept. /drone squad to check on peoples knives and then ban all sharpening tools too? What a flunky, learned his lines well though- His Master's Voice.:(

All of this is due to toxic media with its endless demands for yet more laws and filling the populace with fear-porn and since 'celebrities' are products of the media they are ideal vehicles for this kind of warping.

Let's be clear, in all European countries there have ALWAYS been strict laws and penalties for the use of knives in crimes, to intimidate or harm people . If anybody threatens people with a knife or worse, they have always faced severe punishment, this is not new. What is new is this insidious campaign by the media to target knife ownership -'carrying a knife should be illegal at all times' it is a thought crime in fact: you have a knife anywhere then you must be a nutter and you openly want to harm everybody nearby . What is also different is that for various reasons amongst various youth groups, Gang Culture and Drug Life have become revered and admired- the invention of this ridiculous concept of 'disrespect' or 'turf' as an excuse for youths to prove their worth by stabbing each other-or women who have broken a code, they usually get acid in the face though, particularly in large cities. So instead of tackling the root of the problem, this moronic and nihilistic Gang Culture (plenty of music & media go with it too....money!) and why it should not only be tolerated but aspired to; the media wants some 1984 solution whereby everything is a potential crime and everything is banned, but at the same time everybody is afraid- King-Kontrol.

Nor should Americans start patting themselves on the back and thanking God they don't live in 'unfree' countries either, they have plenty of forces who wish to regulate everything and make yet more laws ensuring it, and with A-I this becomes yet more possible without any need for 'laws'. Guilty as charged, not proved. Vigilance knife enthusiasts everywhere!

Why do people get actors mixed up with the ropes they play, they act tough or smart but they are a very unique artsy group that are almost universally against all types of weapons and violence. They only do movies for the money and recognition otherwise they would only do stage drama. Why wouldn't a group of people with the same ideals as your 5th grade art teacher suggest every type of disarmament? The view that it must be the weapon that is the culprit is a common misconception/belief because the way to have prevented the issue is long past. Giving a child a respect for others lives and well being isn't something you can just fix once they have already reached adulthood.

Wasn’t it Meryl Streep who agreed to do one movie (the river wild) where she briefly uses gun but then never wanted to do it again? That is the kind of dedication I can reapect but it’s funny when majority of the American movie industry does violence fantasy without any issues of questions and then wants to fight against weapons. It’s quite baffling.

Some people just cannot resist their desire to control other people. Being from Texas I am very used to these nut jobs and their desire to infringe upon people's rights every opportunity they get.

Anyone notice that they always like to include the words "common sense?"

Meryl also used some rifles to shoot lions in Out of Africa, but I agree with your general point.
