I am in search for another EDC knife. Last year I bought a ZT0560 and turned out to be an awesome knife. Love everything about it and hasn't left my side yet. But I'm feeling like I wanna get me another one. A PM2 (which was on my list before the 0560) or maybe get another ZT. Both about same price. I haven't read much on the 770 but looks like a good knife. I'm sure neither will compare to my current knife but it doesn't have to be. Should I go for the PM2 or you think I'll like the zt better

Thanks!

The 770 is a limited run. If you can get one, get one while they are still available. Worst case scenario, you don't like and wait until they aren't available to flip for profit.

Since you seem to want a user, not a keeper, I advocate for the Paramillie 2. A perfect choice for EDC.

I like my PM2...

Looks like you habe 2 choices:
A) branch out from ZT and get an edc knife.
B) pick up the limited run ZT.

Careful, if you get the PM2 it won't be your last spyderco.

I didn't realize the 770 was a limited run. I seen the 777 was limited but I missed out on that one. And yeah it will be used most likely. Whenever the 560 isn't in my pocket. I was set on the PM2 until I looked at the ZT line again and seen that one. Gaaa! I hate decisions. :). Maybe I should go with the 770 like dkb said cause it won't be around for much longer. I don't see the PM2 going anywhere anytime soon. Any other opinions on the two?

I have both, and the ZT sees a lot more pocket time. It is a much better EDC knife IMO. The PM2 feels like I have a sword in my pocket, and doesn't offer enough cutting edge to warrant that kind of pocket real estate.

One thing that concerns me about the 770 is the black aluminum handle. It doesnt have much of a texture to it. I can see tiny silver scratches forming on it easily. And aluminum being kind of a soft metal if a large scratch were would happen could be felt in the hand pretty easily. Anyone have a problem with the handle material?

The coating is very hard, I don't think you will have much of a problem with it scratching easily.

The 0770 is a regular production piece. The only thing that's limited is the aluminum version. After its done, the carbon fiber 0770 will be a standard piece.

Right. And it's the 0770cf that's a real game-changer IMO. Take a knife that's already more pocket-friendly than a PM2, put a carbon fiber handle on it, drop its weight to ~3.5 ounces, and you've got the first knife ZT has made that can truly be called a gentleman's knife. I, for one, can't wait for it to get here.

Seems like a miss though, they should have made it with KVT.

Actually the knife I really want is the ZT 0801CF. That is one sweet looking knife. Not sure I wanna spend that much tough. Anyone know when the Carbon Fiber version of the 770 will be out? Or when the 0801CF will be out should I find enough cash? :)

I really thought I was gonna pick up a 0770CF but I'm gonna pass and get the 801CF and the 0562CF(2 of these). 0770CF is awesome too but I'll be content with these other two.

PM2's up there among my favorite folders and you'll have to try it sooner or later. Both knives should have good resale/trade value. Soooo, try both!

I decided to go with the PM2 :). I've put that knife off for long enough. Plus I think I'd rather have the carbon fiber 770. That is if I can't find a 801cf first :). Thanks for all the input guys. Where can I find different scales? Can't find very many of them around.

Late to the party, but here's my 2¢; I'm a major ZT fan, so, of course I suggest getting the 0770 eventually, especially the CF version when it comes out. I have one of the aluminum 0770s, and I have to admit that it has spent all it's time in my possession in my storage bag, but the original plan was to make it a safe queen because of it's limited edition status and then put the 0770CF in the carry rotation when I got it. The point is, I really can't speak to it's EDC usability (though I'm sure it would perform admirably), but I do carry and enjoy my DLC digicam PM2 fairly often in comparison to the rest of my EDC rotation. I'm sure you will enjoy your new PM2.

I finally got my PM, and I like the feel of the 770 more. They really are radically different knives, though. The PM is a good deal bigger, but feels almost too light for the size (not Manix LW light, but really light). The 770 doesn't feel as heavy duty, but has a more slick and classier design.

Get both of them. I'm glad I did!

I would have preferred it with KVT too. But the 0770cf is such a departure from anything ZT has yet produced that I'll take it any way they dish it out. It's the only knife they've ever made I'd be willing to EDC.

Bring it, ZT!!! :)

I just received my 0770.
I just de-assisted it . Action is good but getting to the liner lock to unlock the blade is a pain b/c it's buried too much.
I might have an anomaly .
