Next knife

I will say the 4 turned out to be a much, much better chopper after putting a high convex grind on it. The snap-cut technique does help a lot, but the 9 can out chop it every time.
If I had to choose just one of the two....it would probably be the 4. I just find it to be the most versatile Becker in the whole line up.

Yeah I can go there with you. Almost all of my knives have a convex edge on them so I kinda take that for granted.

I'm still gonna say, 9 if you want a chopper (and that's one that you just need). 5 if you want a camp knife or a great slicer. A tweener if you want something generally useful (and if the 5 is interesting, the 15 would fit the bill nicely for dual purposes). RBK if you just want sheer bada--ery (or maybe a Brute, or a 6). Or a TMHunt M-18. I kinda want to try one of those out, TBH.

Personally, again, I'm utterly uninterested in the 4. It looked so much better in pictures than in person, in my opinion. I love curved blades, BUT once I got it in my paws, I just didn't really like it. I think it might be the only Becker I've sold. YMMV though. It's clearly got fans, and it's a perfectly competent blade. I'm not sure why I didn't like it, honestly. I really feel like I should. It might be that I like wider blades, and the blade on the 4 is quite thin width-wise. I was actually kinda surprised. Pics make it look bigger than it is.

Funny, I like the 4 even though I really haven't gotten to use it nearly as much as my 9 (not at all yet, really) but I think I'd love the 4 if it were about 4 inches longer and a little wider and thicker overall....it does kinda disappoint when you get it (if you haven't already held one) because it looks like it should be bigger in pics....
I think the 9 or the 5 depending on needs, and a tweener next (or first if'n the first two don't float yer boat). Good choices, all of them.
