Next Knife

Alright. My short list has the following:

Rock Salt
Super Hawk
ZDP/CF Caly3
Lava

I've got enough for any ONE of those. I hope to get all of them eventually, and I'm leaning towards the Lava. It looks like they've discontinued it in the new lineup, and I don't have one.

The Rock Salt would be my first fixed blade Spyderco, and my first H1 blade. The Super Hawk has a great design with the hawk bill blade, and I love CF handles. It's been said the Caly3 is an excellent slicer, and I want another mid size edc dress knife.

What do you think?
 
the ukpk (very much like the caly 3) was definitely one of my favorite knives of all time... but there is ONE little tidbit that caused me to pass it on... and that is that the point has almost no coverage when the blade is closed.. It really bothered me. Not that I would, but if even 1/8" broke off, you'd have a sharp bit of the spine sticking out... A little gunk in between the stop pin and contact point on the tang and did not immideately notice it, the tip could stick out enough to even cut yourself... so know is could be considered a moot point, but with the amazing selection of folders currently, my choice would ask for better design in this area... one of the aspects I really love of the Military.

It's a tough choice. I want to get a Lava. The design looks nice, small, dressy. Is the outward curve on the blade more functional then it looks?

After that, I'd probably get the Caly3 in ZDP. Then a Super Hawk and Rock salt.

While the Super Hawk has a lot of things I like (CF handles, comp. lock, good handle design), I'm worried about how thick it'd be in the pocket. It seems pretty wide.
 
I'd go for the Lava. And yes, there is more blade there than meets the eye.

I have a Rock Salt, which I really like, but is BIG. The Caly 3 is nice but it has never grown on me like the Lava.
 
If you like dressy, you will love the Caly. The CF on mine goes with everything:D Sharp as hell an stays that way with the ZDP too.
 
I would plan to get all those models as well. I did a test on the Lava. Chad's knife is an excellent design. It cuts like a big knife. I would make this my first knife because it was discontinued. Superhawk would be next.
 
Well, now they have the S90V Mule Team out, and I planned on picking up two of those, along with a Mule second. Kinda wiping me out now. I'll see if I can squeeze a Lava in there. :)

I have a Caly III, but keep thinking about picking up a Lava. In fact, I may have to do that soon.

If you do like the Lava, definitely snag one before they get away.
