Next logical step in the addiction...?

My opinion is that you should order a Tank Buster directly from Busse Combat to continue your addiction. How can you be an addict if you've never gotten one from the source? A Fusion Handled Battle Mistress or Steel Heart would also be a critical addition to any addict's collection, closely followed by a Special Forces handled Natural Outlaw.

Hey guys, I know these threads are a dime a dozen but....

Well its only been a week or so and now I'm itching to round out my small (but AWESOME) Busse family.

I have my small EDC needs covered: Tiger Warden
I have my med bushcraft/med EDC needs covered: Muddy Active Duty

Now I'm looking for a real all-around, jack of all trades, camping/outdoors blade that can get er done regardless of what I throw at it - a real monster. I'd like to stay between 5-7 (this is a large blade to me).

I've been doing a bit of research but all the choices are still a bit overwhelming - so what are considered some of the all around favorites in this category? From my research I'm thinking:

-Badger Attack
-ASH1 or
-NMSFNO (what the hell does that stand for? Edit: got it!)
-The new Tankbuster

Not really digging the SAR5. I really like the looks of the HG55 but think its too specialized (its a fighter right?) to be a good all around camping blade - I think I need a blade with a bigger belly hence my choices above...

I'm trying to stay under $325 which seems reasonable for the above blades as determined from recent sales threads (I dont mind a user).

What do you guys recommend?

Thanks in advance for the help - I really appreciate it!

Hey guys thank you very much for all of the responses and great info! I learn a ton every time I check up on the boards.

I think I'm leaning towards a skinny ASH-1 at this point - such a sweet looking blade.

However, I'm still digging the NMSFNO - what a monster! But, I usually carry a hatchet for major chopping which seems to be the NMSFNO's forte...

I know this is a tough question but, what would be the advantage of picking up a Tank Buster over the ASH1 (other than a good price and getting options of my choosing)?

Well, tomorrow I'm heading to Wisconsin for the week to visit with my wife's family so, I think I'll step back and stay glued to the exchange (God bless the iphone) and see if any good deals on an ASH1 and/or NMSFNO pop up... :D

Thanks again guys, you RULE!

The TankBuster's price is awfully good. Consider a CG with no choil, so you get extra blade for bushie tasks. That might do it for you.

Well you guys are making an awefully good argument for the Tank Buster - I just wish it had that curve to the end of the handle like the ASH1 and not a straight end...

From the breadth of experience here - how do you think the TB will compare to the ASH1 as a general all arounder? I'm already digging having no choil...

I've never ordered from Busse before - are there any additonal charges on top of the price listed for the TB?

Hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th!

Well been thinking and I might go for both the ash and tb when it's available - sales thread has been slow on the skinny Ash so threw a wtb up on the exchange... Need a muddy and tan to match my active duty!

This has officially become my new hobby :)

Well guys a Skinny ASH-1 is on its way :D The blade shape along with thickness just did it for me. Heading to the mountains this saturday and crossing my fingers it makes it in time...

Thanks again guys for the advice!

Now to figure out the NEXT logical step (I'm noticing a pattern...)

Thinking I need a BIG one now - either a FSH, NMSFNO or BM type.

Digging the FSH but I guess it comes down to my preference on handle type (which I havent developed yet)...

Grats on your Skinny ASH1! It's a great knife that will serve you well.

Thanks I'm really really psyched! Spent hours reading everything I could find on the Skinny ASH and I think it will be perfection coupled with my MAD :D

Realistically I think my woods/camping needs will be pretty much met considering I usually carry a hatchet for chopping... Maybe I should conveniently misplace that though ;)

Maybe someone has a skinny ASH and a SFNO and NMSFNO they can post side by side and one over the other for to guage size. They are real close.

With your Active Duty and Skinny ASH1 covering small and medium you need a big'un!

A nice three knife setup:
- AD
- Skinny ASH1
- CGFBM

A nice four knife setup:
- AD
- Skinny ASH1
- NMSFNO
- NMFBM

Well my Skinny ASH showed up this morning - I cant believe how fast the shipping was!

I am just blown away - this thing is a monster and I'm in love! If feels perfect in my hand and love the weight - glad I went Skinny, cant even imagine the .32!!! Heading upstate later today and cant wait to start using

I think my appetite is sated for at least the weekend ;)

More pics to follow...

Sheesh, that AD looks like it might have been you to clean your fingernails. C'mon, let's see some real use pics! ;):p

Well been up in the country for a few hours already and went to find some wood to chop with the new Skinny ASH and purty her up a bit.

I was doing some chopping on an old log (what a monster the ASH was - lke a hatchet!) and in the first few minutes noticed a big flake of "muddy" came off above the grind and it looks to be like there is a black coating where it flaked off - I don't mind getting the blade nice and used but just wondering is this normal? Should it have flaked so quickly and should there be a black coating underneath? This is my first big Busse so just wondering what to expect as far as wear goes... At this rate I would assume the muddy to be gone within a few months...

Oh man did it feel good in my hand!!! We are having a BBQ tomorrow and cant wait for the watermelon slicing :D

Thanks guys!
