Here at CPK we are grateful for all of our customers, we wouldn't be able to do this without all of your continued support. That said our company is focused on providing performance and value and that focus lends itself to users. In the end we are very grateful for the collectors, but we will always be focused on the users. Given the choice between producing a pattern that's going to be used or a pattern that's going into a safe, we will usually go for the pattern that's going to get used.

Those of you hungry for UFs will just have to feast your greedy little eyes on the photos being posted on here from those who already own one. The best that I'm willing to do personally is to post free photos once in a while. It's an exclusive club of the "haves", for now anyway. :D :D :D

Voted UF. 2nd for me would be the MC.

The UF could potentially take over the role of my FK.

I do like the LC, so I'm curious to see how the MC compares, in the role of 'large camp knife'.

If either came up for preorder, I'd be in for more than one (maybe 3 UFs if double edged was an add-on option).
 
Utility fighter is a good to go pattern

I think a lot of people would be keen for another HDFK run, the last sale went in an instant but i suppose they all do. Just such a fantastic, all round knife that everyone has a use for. I'd certainly be in for at least three.
 
I can understand the thinking about preorders being risky ... but I believe you have banked enough good will through good business practices and quality of your products ... that if there were a delay you would not lose support you'd probably see more support come out from everyone that has had the pleasure of dealing with CPK and your products.

And btw my vote the FK2 ... as an after thought ...

I voted for the FK2, but if I had the choice it would have been the HDFK.
 
Any Pre-order boys and girls is probably not going to happen Until the Fall of 2018! Just sayin-This is March


People are digging these pre-orders. I'm glad. I worry that extended waits will be a turnoff eventually, particularly after drama I've seen elsewhere.

I'm trying to be conservative on my pre-orders because it's only a matter of time before something happens and throws off a schedule. Some things would be in my control, such as poor planning (I'm pretty much a retarded evil genius), but other things such a bad batch of steel, a machine going down, or a batch lost in shipping would be a nightmare.

Looking at the last two preorders I had two problems. I had steel on hand for the EDC2 preorder, but not enough so I'm having to set up and run it again to finish the order and there was a delay getting the material. On the BC pre-order I waited until after the order was closed to order steel but the lead time on that steel was much greater than normal because it wasn't just a matter of having Niagara roll it out, Crucible had to run the 3V powder for the order so that steel is only now being made. Any hope of having BC by Blade is starting to look pretty bleak.

This pre-order business is risky business which creates stress here in the shop. To minimize risk I don't want to start a pre-order on a new pattern that has never been run before because there are often hiccups on a new run, so the DEK1 and FK2 are probably out. That leaves the UF (with antiquate programs and tooling and lacking certain features like chamfers) or the MC which is ready to go but it's another chopper. I could run the HDFK again, but we just did that one. Another EDC2 doesn't make sense we haven't finished shipping the last batch yet. And development time is at a premium right now because we're doing a custom project and trying to get the Competition Cutter ready in time for World's. I may let the EDC2 and the CC finish shipping and get started shipping on the BC before we start another pre-order, which means the next pre-order might not be until after summer. I know I gave you some very unsolicited advice before the first HDFK preorder. I hope you were able to forgive me as someone who just wants to see your continued success. With that thought in mind, I'm very glad to see what you wrote above, and that you're keeping a tight rein on this because preorders scare the bejeebus out of me. You and Jo are the only people that I open up my wallet for ahead of time Nate. Thanks for continuing to help me feel comfortable in doing so.

I am down for ANY pre-order, for ANY model, whenever you all see fit to offer it. Since I missed the HDFK order before, the notion of that coming back again would likely get my vote.

As one of those constantly regretting not getting in on the first HDFK preorder it would be my first choice but I would be in for FK2 if it was offered.
