OK so I started with a Tenacious, graduated to the king, the Paramilitary 2 and got a Dragonfly 2 Salt serrated as a backup. What's my next step. I have a big blade with the amazing compression lock which I love and the Dragonfly 2 Salt as the everyday utility blade. I'm not opposed to bigger blades or smaller, just need to know my next step where I'll be even happier with the brand.

I'd say one of the flippers (Domino/Southard), a Caly series or a sage series!

Or a manix! (The S110V is amazing)

Try something with FRN. The Stretch, Delica, native, and Endura are all great. Lots of colors to choose from. Personally the stretch is my new favorite.

Hmmm, so many spydercos are on the must own list it's hard to decide. My next step up would be the Gayle Bradley or Southard. Otherwise, you need a manix 2 or stretch in your collection!

How about the ladybug series a small none "scary" backup comes in several blade steels ZDP, H1, VG-10, Aoagami super blue.

Might I suggest the Caly 3.5? You seem to be a fan of Spyderco's most popular models. I assure you, the Caly 3.5 is the favourite of many for good reason. Great ergos, light weight, disappears in the pocket.

Do you have a dollar figure that you would like to stay within for your next knife?

I highly encourage you to get a Taichung Spyderco at some point. For now however, there are many to choose from that are still in a similar price range to what you've been spending so far.

If you like the Dragonfly 2, there are several different versions if you want to hunt them down. You can choose from Nishijin glass fiber sporting a ZDP-189 blade ($139), foliage green G10 ($96), or if you are lucky a Super Blue Dragonfly 2 ($83). They are all the familiar form factor, but different flavors.

If you want something a bit different, but still highly practical, any other members of Spyderco's Seki-City FRN club would be a good choice. The Delica ($64), Endura ($68), and Stretch ($88) are all very popular.

There are also many good knives that can keep your Paramilitary 2 company. I usually alternate between my PM2 and Manix 2 ($96-105) for my dirtier outdoor projects. The Military ($154) is also a great lightweight utility knife alternative. The Native ($79-269) series is an excellent size for EDC, as is the Chaparral ($112). Or you could compulsively and obsessively collect Paramilitaries in every handle color/blade steel.

I think at some point that every Spydie fan should get a Taichung made knife. The overall quality of the knives coming from Taiwan is amazing. They tend to be expensive compared to US and Japanese produced Spydercos, but are worth it. The Sage series is a good set of knives, though the one I would recommend specifically is the Sage 2 ($180).

My personal favorites are the Domino and the Manix line. I own about 4 Manix 2's and 2 Manix Xl's, all good choices.

You should try a Taichung Spydie. I would suggest a Gayle Bradley. The Domino or Southard are not bad choices either. If you can find one, I also love the Chokwe. They are disco'd, but some retailers still have them.

Everyone should have a Military. Most find it too big at first, but it is too awesome not to have one.

I would also say you should get at least one of the Stretch's. Maybe try a ZDP-189 version, be it a green (easy to find), blue, or the carbon fiber one. Another one I really like that doesn't get talked about much is the Centofante 3.

Pics, because pics help push you over the edge:D

Here is most of the ones I mentioned minus the Southard and Chokwe. top: CRUWEAR Military, CTS-204P Para 2, Gayle Bradley, black FRN VG-10 Stretch, Centofante 3, Domino, and SB Delica.

Chokwe, because it is just too cool and unique.

M4 Gayle Bradley.

Everyone needs a Military. You may as well go ahead and get it now.
You can thank me later :p

Partly kidding, but it is a knife that no other company makes anything like. 4" full flat ground blade at only 4.25oz(4oz for Carbon Fiber), and you barely notice it in pocket.

Would you consider the Military a 'step up' from a Tenacious? I have a Tenacious and I barely carry it ever since I got my Benchmade 940. I'm game for something new to try.

You beat me to recommending the military but yes, military. :D

Big step up from the Tenacious. Don't own any Benchmade so I cannot compare that though.

As others have noted, the Military is a must have. No comparison whatsoever to the Tenacious . I have a couple of Benchmades - 710 and 940 - and they cannot compare (in my opinion only) to the Military. Big, light, FFG, disappears in the pocket, great slicer, etc. Alot of folks compare it to the Para - they are really two different knives. Nothing wrong with the S30 model, but the carbon fiber sprints seem to magnify the excellant qualities of this knife.

Then again, any of the other models mentioned are also must haves. You will probably own them all at some point in time in the future.

The Sage 1 and 2 make fantastic mid size EDC knives. That's my recommendation. My Sage 2 is my most carried knife. I just love the ergonomics and simplicity. The blade length is perfect as well.
