Next Spyderco Recommendation

Another idea is the Gayle Bradley Air. It doesn't have a pocket clip but if you enjoy traditional knives that may not bother you. It has titanium liners and a CPM-M4 blade. Very beautiful knife and extremely light. 2.5" blade and 1.2 oz.

Now this is a very nice looking knife.

I don't know you obviously, but had a similar experience in regards to size and not wanting to get a knife too big. I started with a tenacious and went smaller with three Sages, a Caly 3 CF, and some others. Then I got a Stretch which is ~3.5" Now I prefer to only carry 3.5" knives. Stretch, PM2, Gayle Bradley, Southard, and I will throw the Domino in there as it is just enough bigger than the Sage to feel more like a proper sized knife to me. I recently got a Military which is a monster even to me, but I do carry it, and find it fantastic. The point of all this is to not shut out bigger than 3" knives. I have seen many guys hesitant at first with bigger knives, but 3.5" seems to be a real sweet spot for many knife affis. If you do settle on 3" and under then Spyderco is your company, so anyway stay here!

current production of the CF Chapparall is XHP...

Only the first run had S30V. (It was slated to have XHP from the get-go, but there was a shortage)

If you really like small, Spyderco's Techno might be a good fit. It has a really slick stonewashed titanium handle. For some it is too small, at minimum it allows for three fingers on the handle. If you have smaller hands and are careful how close you get to the cutting edge, you can squeeze all four on. The Techno is going to be smaller than the Sage, weigh about the same, and has a beefier handle/blade. What is good about that is, even though the handle is short it still feels substantial in hand.
+1 to this.
