"Next stop; Willoughby!"

Carl, you have a style of writing that I real enjoy reading. This was a fun thread that got my imagination going.

I am not very versed in old knives to I took a look in the sticky thread with ads. I picked out two knives.

If I decided multi blade I would go with 724, great size, I like the blades and comes in stag.
Yeah, I would save my pennies for the stag...

If I decided single blade I would go with 1114, the same length as my current favorite single blade.
I would go for the white bone, and love the profile of that spear blade, lots of blade height to sharpen away over time.

Willoughby sounds like a beautiful place... I can just picture myself, sitting under a grand Oak tree with my knife, I would most probably choose the HJ, I think that style of knife calls to me,but also a Stag Handled Marbles Fixed blade to finish a fantastic set!
Thank you Carl for taking us there, just great.

It would be a true delight to operate a barlow with nice slabs and carbon steel blades...but maybe a nice jack.....hmmmmm,,,hard choices--sweet thoughts....Herb

Assuming the model was available in 1900, a single blade pocket hunter, about 4 inches closed.

I'd pick up a nice half Congress with ivory scales. If those were sold out, maybe a cigar equal-end jack with ebony handles. Also, a couple 10-cent cigars, a genuine Hohner harmonica, three candy sticks (for my kids), and a small bottle of lilac water for my beautiful wife. :-)
