I just bought a Spyderco Native and was highly impressed by its sharpness from the factory. Last night I got out my EdgePro to polish the edge a bit and I found out why it seems so sharp -- it's cut at 14 degrees. I bought the Native because I wanted to try an S30V blade. I have to assume that Spyderco is confident that their blade will hold an edge at such an extreme angle.

I'm curious to hear from anyone who has carried a Native for a few weeks or longer regarding its edge holding ability.

Shalom,

My Native is in CMP440V (S60V) so the comparison is not the same as yours with S30V.

That said, though, I reprofiled mine on my sharpmaker to 15 degrees (it was much easier than expected) then did 4 light swipes at 20 degrees on the fine flats. It is scary sharp and holds it's edge very well.

S30V at 14 degrees must be even sharper.

Enjoy your Native!
