well, look what arrived in the mail, 2 blocks of raffir. one of them is going on a small damasteel blade. so happy now.







sorry for the blurry pics. i have never worked with resin based material before... any tips?

- don't breathe the dust / wear a filter
- don't let it get to hot / use slow tools / low pressure
- any tips on what finish to use? website says it can be sanded down to high gloss

Florian, I've never heard of this stuff, although it does resemble other products. On the green one, what is it that is suspended in the resin? I really like the look of that one.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

i think those are aluminium shavings in the green one. and as luck would have it, i didn't use it and i have about 20 of those not so sam brown studs looking for a new home
oh and yes, i've seen some other resin based stuff as well. i guess there are so many different kinds all around.

I have no doubt you'll find a use for the studs and handle material. You're one of the more creative people I've met.

The completed knife looks awesome. I'd be tempted to try and shave with it.
