Nice Pair: 408 & 419 Kalinga Pro, S30V & Rosewood

Your revolver makes the fixed Kalinga Pro look huge. Terrific grips. Everyone should have one of those.

Can you hit anything with it? Of all the handguns, revolvers and semi-autos (at least 5 or 6 of each format) i've fired only a five shot Charter Arms 38 revolver was accurate for me. funny to me. Practice didn't seem to help either... Not my cuppa, shooting, since I tried and failed to improve over several years.

Now, knives are a different story as I always cut what I aim to! Yes I do.

The S&W is an L Frame 686 Plus 7 shot .357 Mag so its not a small revolver to start with. It is very accurate with all .357 ammo I've fired thru it and is my go in the woods gun. I bought the revolver last year and the dealer I bought it from threw the Kalinga in with the deal.

I know that you are responding to colt's pic red. The brass bolsters have that typical patina that goes with age.

I saw your work the other day and have to say that you were able to make a remarkable improvement in the rich glossy glow of the brass. Good work.

I'm looking for some Wright's Brass Polish to try it out. I've heard that it is the bomb for brass. Gotta go shoppin.

It is, I cleaned about 8 110's and 112's yesterday, most were pretty well patina'd up. Took me about 20 mnutes to do em all including putting a drop of oil on the tang/pivot for storing. I have a Matco Rusty Wallace that I cleaned with Never Dull when I got it but it didnt do very well on the engraving on the back side of bolsters. Wrights cleaned it right out just using a paper towel. Cant believe how much time and effort I have wasted using Never Dull-which I had sworn by:(

Heres what it looked like after never dull-when I get home tonite I'll try and get a pic from yesterday's results

BTW as a note, If those knife and gun pics arent already in the "Knife and Gun club" thread, please post em:thumbup:

I ordered a bottle of liquid Wright's Brass Polish via ebay. I did not beat the bushes at local stores.

Thank you kindly for the tip Imafritz. You are all right. Now I gotta get all my bolsters engraved. Very attractive scroll work. Like that on currency.

Youre welcome oregon and thanks. It is nice engraving-I believe all the Matco Racing models come that way from Buck directly.

I just did the same.

Cost a total of $10.75 but just starting the car up would cost me that anyway......now I get it in my mailbox.

Will give it a try in a few days.

:)

Both knives fill my hand. The fixed makes the folder look a little smaller, which it is by one inch.

Even wearing the sheath, 11" OA, the 408 is smaller than a WWII era Tokarev, SVT-40, rifle (cal 7.62x54, that still needs a bayonet, scope and mount, one of these days when the money starts running up hill). :D

Oh, what can I see here?
Here are two nice knives and Russian semi-automatic sniper's rifle.
This rifle is very rare today around the world.
It will be not so easy to find bayonet, scope and mount for this rifle, I think.
7,62x 54 R is not a bad caliber for many kinds of meat.

Beautiful knives, well-photographed (suitable for framing).

I like that caliber and I have a bunch of it. Stripper clips as well. I use that caliber in the mosin-nagants (one with the czar's crest, one with it scratched off (1917) during the revolution and one with the hammer & cycle etching.

There are two SVT-40 bayonets with scabbards on the bay right now. I'm not sure if they are correct or not. They are rare. The scope is rare and expensive.

czar's crest, it is well written, I understand.

Here is the link especially for you:

It is original SVT 40 bayonet , rare , but not in the best condition.
All bayonets are weapon in Russia , therefore their turnover is slightly forbidden for people.
Be carefull, there are some eastern fakes of this bayonet on the market.
But the sniper's scope and the mount can be found easily may be , and they are not forbidden for parcels and for selling/buying.
If you need my help with Russian language or with Russian Inetrnet, keep me posted.

Thank you kindly garryale for the links. Now I know what the real McCoy looks like.

I have three "wall hangers" all with correct bayonets in place in my living: A long and a short mosin-nagant and a bolt-action enfield (made in Ishapore, India). There is room for the SVT40 but it wouldn't look right w/o a bayonet fixed... Something for me to work on.

Not at all, my Buck buddy.

FWIW, to install an original mount on that SVT40 (unless it's an actual sniper model and I don't believe yours is) you'll have to cut a key-way for the mount on the top rear of the receiver.

Oh, forgot to add that you also need to have the mounting rails on the receiver to be able to mount an original scope base, (not all SVT40's do but yours clearly does).

Thank you kindly Badhammer.

Good, actually. I won't have to add scopes now. That saves some $.

I prefer the look of the iron sites and the bayonets.

That is about the best knife photo I've ever seen. WOW!!!

I've got the folder and my fixed blade should be here tomorrow.

Thanks for the compliment, making knife pictures adds to the fun of collecting them. Ik hope that you enjoy your 408, it's a beautifull knife. :D
