3.5x1" Sambar Stag sets. Good solid, clean, well matched(for color, shape, and texture). No extreme radiuses and good flat or minimal saddle (desirable).

Here's 3 sets I paired up. I've got plenty more if anybody is interested, but I've got to pair them and I won't take the time to do that just for browsing purposes. If you're looking for something specific, shape wise (i.e. saddled or swelled) let me know. I've got a lot this size, some larger stuff (commensurately priced). I'll be getting some dyed soon also.

$30 a set + shipping ($7) or $90 shipped for all 3 sets. SPF to Rick

to bad there not just a 1/4" wider! Those would look cool on my neck knives

Yeah Daniel, unfortunately, just 1/4" wider puts them in premium, near impossible to find sizes. I do have some that big, but they're significantly more expensive. I've got some sets as big as 5.5" x 1.5", but they're not cheap, and it's the last of this material we're gonna see unless something major changes to the laws in India, which ain't likely.

I will mention though, that much like ivory, you often have to fit this stuff at an angle. i.e. you can't expect to find sets that fit the "horizontal box" of your tangs. Most of the time, this stuff actually looks better if you match the grain with the angle/curve of your tangs, and gives you more latitude for fit on width, at the expense of length. If there's a little curve to the grain of the stag texture, it's complementary.

Irrelevant to this post, but I figured it worth mentioning. I've been selling some off the wall handle materials lately, and I always see people following the same mantra they do for wood to "buy bigger than you need, to have room to work" which simply ain't possible with many of these rarer, more expensive handle materials. I don't need 3.5" of length on the knives I use sets like this on, but the extra length, gives me a lot of latitude for width of the scales, which can be a big factor getting stag to fit as thinly as possible with dovetailed bolsters.

Good snag Rick! I have been noticing that the "Extra 1/4" cost allot:eek: these were tempting me

I use very little stag . To me the quality of these and the price price looked very good. The price on mammoth ivory took a big move up about a year ago. The sizing thing as Javand says has become more important than ever. I'm sure attached to that stuff. However it sure creates sales problems with price conscious knife buyers.

Yeah I'm not sure if everybody else has seen it or not, but while stag prices have marched up significantly, the supply, has dwindled even more significantly.

There was a large batch of extremely high end, but extremely high priced stuff dumped a few years ago when one of the biggest hordes was dropped, but since then, it's been crickets mostly, and only getting worse. Used to be able to buy killer stag for a fraction of this price, but that all changed when the Indian government banned exportation of it about 10 years ago. It's still legal to import, but there's only one real supplier, and they won't sell it. For a bit, it didn't matter, because large stockpiles were moved out before that ban was implemented, but now, even Culpepper, whom is one of the biggest suppliers globally, has said they only have enough to last another year or two, all of which is getting smaller and smaller.

Anyway, I'll list a few more sets if anybody is interested.
