• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Good for you, don't wait till they are gone to do nice for em. I sent my brother a Basics nine He is not big on folders....or I would have given him an Umfaan...still might!

A friend from Pennsylvania and I had been e-mailing each other for a while about our love of knives. He'd long admired my GenO Denning hunters that I had pictured on my website, so I gave him the black micarta-handled version as a gift. He got so much joy from receiving that knife - far more than I could've gotten by keeping it myself. It was his first custom knife, and he has since bought several more. Always nice to bring more people over to the dark side.

5 years ago my sister gave me a Stanley Fujisaka folder. Gold andonized titanium frame engraved by Bruce Shaw,Ivory scales. One fantastic knife which I never would have been able to afford.

3 years ago, I gave my stepfather a Bailey Bradshaw two blade trapper in ivory and 3V, with his initials engraved into a sterling silver escutcheon. Cost less than Whitewings do today. Suppose it would be in poor taste to ask for it back?

Picked up a few fixed blade hunters produced by Gerber as a limited edition commissioned by Deloro Stellite a few years ago, made of Stellite 6K. I made gifts of them to my brothers and my business partner. They seem happy, and the Stellite 6K has proven to be an excellent blade material. Takes a hair-popping edge and holds it longer than most steel. Fun stuff, all around.

I gave my brother-in-law a Ken Onion Custom Baby Boa last year for Christmas.

In 1995 after a sucessful black bear hunt in northern Wisconsin, I let my guide use a Sigman Utility hunter #5 in Carbon steel to gut, clean and skin the bear. He was amazed at the cutting ability of the knife, so I offered him the knife in lieu of a tip. He had no idea of the value of the knife but chose to take the knife. The knife gets so much use that he is actually starting to wear the blade. I just replaced the knife with a Sigman #5 Utiliy Hunter in CPM 440.
