Thought I'd throw this up and see if anyone likes it. It's made from a worn-out Nicholson file, tempered in the kitchen oven at 375 (at least that's what the oven dial said). Anyway, it passes the brass rod test, I can't break it by hand, and it cuts well. It's "blued" with spicy brown mustard.

In keeping with the recycled theme, the maple and walnut are leftover from other projects and the hickory butt came from a busted 'hawk handle. Only the welding-steel guard, black spacer material and brass pin are new. Oh yeah, and the epoxy ;) 5" blade, 9 5/8" overall. It balances right behind the guard.

Comments good or bad are welcome!

Nothin to it, just clean the blade well, slather the mustard on and let it sit for a couple hours.

James, I like what you've done, and I think you did a great job of doing it! Keep it up! -Matt-

Thanks Matt. This one is already sold, yay! Just waiting on some neatsfoot oil to finish up the sheath.

Nice knife, I like it. Don't know where you got your neatsfoot oil from, but if you have Farm Supply store in your area most carry neatsfoot oil. I bought my last at a Tractor Supply Store, $11 per gallon.

Done good J. Turkey. HEHEHEHEHE!!!;):D
I knew that would come back to haunt me!

Thanks, guys! I need all the encouragement I can get ;)

denim, you're right on the money... I just got off the phone with the folks at Fleet Farm (similar to Tractor Supply) and they do have neatsfoot oil for wayyyy cheaper than the small bottles TKS sells

EDIT: Yup, just got back from Fleet... 1 gallon neatsfoot oil, $12 total. That's practically free compared to what I spent on a 2oz bottle from TKS  Anyone need some? I got enough to last me a couple years :D
