I picked this up from a good friend here on BF. I've read a lot of positive comments about Nick's work, all of it is true. This is a stunning knife.
3 7/8 blade of 1084, 3 1/2 edge, 8 1/4 overall. SS guard, Black Ash contoured handle.
Here's some background on this knife from Nick:
"I actually remember that knife very well, and here's why-
This knife has really had quite a life... I made the blade (1084) about 4 years ago to demonstrate forging and grinding to a student. After heat-treating and finish grinding it... since it wasn't an order, I decided to use it in my shop.
I abused the heck out of it cutting everything a knifemaker cuts in a shop.... leather, boxes, sand-paper (ouch! ), lunch ..... used it as a scraper. I did not, however, use it as a screwdriver
It went in my back-pack with me down into the mud-flow from the 1980 Mt. St. Helens eruption, it went UP the mountain with me, it went all around the hiking trails on the Washington and Oregon hiking trails.
Finally I decided it was time to clean it up and send it on for other duties. So...I refinished the blade, tore the old eucalyptus handle off and replaced it with the black ash handle... and took it with me to Atlanta in 2007 and sold it.
And now it's in your hands, and I'm glad you like it Matt!
Purely based on looks, it could afford to be a touch more "curvey" BUT... as far as using it, I love the slender clip point and the knife carries well (for me anyway )."
This knife has been used to clean up some small mouth bass this summer and there is a very light patina on the blade. I clean and oil the blade after each use. There are no scratches on the blade and it has not been sharpened. It's still a razor!
Please note the pics show the knife in new condition as I do not have pics of the blade currently but would be happy to provide additional pics to anyone interested.
$SOLDshipped (tracked and insured) and paypal included.
