Greetings all,
You may recall this blade from Nick's pre-San Antonio thread explaining the meticulous process by which he polishes his clay hardened blades to bring out the hamon in all it's glory:

Personally, I thought that the final polish with the crushed fur clippings from the underbelly of a baby unicorn was a bit excessive, but there can be no doubt that the result was an impressive multidimensional Fogg-like hamon.
I am pleased to be able to report that it looks every bit as good in person, and delighted that Coop was able to capture it so well in the photo. You will somtimes see a good photo of the hamon, and often a good photo of the knife - but you will rarely see both in one image.
The specs are:
9" blade of W2
14 1/4" OAL
1 7/8" at its widest
Ironwood handle and stainless double-guard with copper spacers.
Paul Long did an extra nice job not just in execution, but in selecting shades and tones that perfectly match those of the lighter ironwood handle.
Overall impressions? Well, I can't really think of a way to improve upon this piece. The fit and finish are flawless. The lines are impeccable. The feel is wonderfully balanced and fighter-fast. The materials are first rate and that hamon is a study in both subtlety and complexity. In other words, it's a typical example of Wheeler awesomeness.
Nick - great job my friend. Keep that momentum rollin'.
Roger
