Nick Wheeler W2 Fighter

oh, sure, that's a beauty and all......why didn't you bring that to Ashokan, so I could see it and hold it.....

or maybe you did, and I just missed it :p

Got to admit that that's one fine knife. The hamon is excellent with all its shadows. I'll have to try Nick's polishing technique on my next knife with a hamon. Sometimes you have to go to extremes. Does it matter if the fur is from a male or female unicorn?

After Nick unclogged the drain with a certain integral, he's just flowing with outstanding pieces!

This has SO much going for it, it was a pleasure to be able to show it fully.

That's the real deal on the hamon, although it's a bit of lighting trickery to get it to show. Nick's work here deserves the attention.

I've always been a fan of any knife that has that kind of Loveless flat-of-the-bolster-transitioning-to-the-round-of-the-handle. Nick uses this style as a strongpoint, and the subtle transitions keeps me studying it for minutes.

And then Paul adds such classy work to finish the package. Just super!

Roger, you sure know how to pick quality.

Superb fighter! Nick really put it all together with this beauty. The guard/handle transition is a highlight for me, among other details mentioned. And, Paul has dressed it with his class. Tremendous package!

Thank you for the kinds words folks :)

Coop just keeps getting better... my jaw literally dropped when I saw that he'd captured the activity in the blade so damn well. The photo seems like it should be in an art exhibit somewhere, and even makes my work look decent.

Paul's work just astounds me... what a master of the craft   :) (of course the highlight is the stud I turned!) ;)

And my utmost thanks to my buddy Roger for allowing me to keep pounding away by supporting me and others in this craft. :)

Here's a couple pics just to add for fun... first is while still in construction, and the second is with a nightly shop visitor... She came in to get a closer look at the blade... Or some free dog food! LMAO ;) (her 5 little ones were just out of view here).

Thanks very much for the comments gents.

Bill - this piece arrived the day before I left for Ashokan and I was travelling with carry on luggage only, so no chance to bring it for show and tell.

And thanks for the extra pics Nick - I'm glad thie piece received approval from your nightly visitor. :)

Wow. What's not to love there? Great blade. Great handle. Great sheath. Great hamon. This'll be a blesphemy I just know it but here goes: I am just not very fond of the huge trend in Damascus, especially the busy, "in-organic" patterns (checkers, basket weave, the raindrops in water looking stuff). On the other hand I love a good hamon and that's a beut. I'd like to see more hamons...like this one.

Fabulous work.

Gorgeous Nick. I can't get over that hamon. It's just stunning.
Paul's sheath.. Can perfection be perfected? Astounding, as always.

Nice one Roger.
