Nick posted a pocket fixed blade for sale in Makers section. (http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/972597-pocket-fixed-blades) I replied I would take it. We conversed thru emails fairly consistently for the first few days following his initial post. He gave me his adress and I went to the P.O. and sent him the money order for the knife. The day i sent the M.O. I also sent him an email giving him the DC# of the M.O. I sent. With no response, a few days later, i let him know again, that it was sent, and gave him my adress to send the knife. I checked the DC# that i got from USPS and the M.O. arrived exactly seven days ago (wednesday of last week). He has yet to respond to me. Being as he has been a BF member since 1999, and is widely wrecognized in the makers section of the forums, I trusted him (yes, flame on, i know i shouldn't have, but my other transactions on BF have started the same way and have gone more than smoothly). His average post count on here is 1.6 a day, and he hasn't posted on BF since the 12th of this month. I am just wondering if anyone out there has heard from him, seen of him, knows what the deal is? I don't want to jump the gun and say I got burned by Nick Wheeler, because the man has a solid reputation here on BF and I wouldn't tarnish it if there is a simple answer/solution. So if anyone has heard from him, or anyone knows him, please talk to him, or send me an email at ISKNIVES at gmail dot com..

Thanks all

I'll tell you what, I am sure Nick has something going on that is taking him away from your deal, give him a week and if he does not respond I will send you mine, the first batch with the magnet in the sheath, and I will take yours with the new sheath. Would that work for you? Nick earned his rep here and don't want to see you "flame him" just because he can't get back to you so fast.

I dont think he's trying to flame him. He seems to have a legitimate gripe. His money arrived a week ago and has had no response from the man.

Not sure what is going on, but am 100% sure without any reservations Nick will take care of this.

I don't blame you for being upset. There better be a huge problem to keep someone waiting that long without a response. It all adds to someones reputation on here by how they handle things. Hopefully he just hit a snag. Hope you get your knife soon.

One week really isn't that long of a time. Sometimes stuff just happens. Give it some more time.

You have woodysone's awesome offer to fall back on anyway!

Woodsy did you even read my post?

I am just looking for some clarification. He was quick with his responses to my initial email and has since dropped off the face of the earth.

Thank you for offering to trade up your pocket fixed blade, that is VERY generous of you.. I will wait to hear back from Nick.

A week isn't a really long time. I would think that this is a bit of jumping the gun. Inpatience gets the best of a lot of people. Maybe something happened to him, who knows? These kinds of threads do send a specific message, "this guy isn't reliable by my standards". It's enough to create potential problems for a person undeservedly. Let's hope he is ok, and that you get your stuff. I would have witten the original thread with a much more neutral (less accusatory) tone overall. Just my 2 cents and yes, I did read your post.

I purchased Nick's personal utility in 01/Cocobolo about a month ago. Arrived safely. I also ordered one of the 1084 utilities from Nick. I had an email a few weeks back that he was having connection issues in addition to time away from his home/shop. I've owned a few of Nick's knives. Though I do not know Nick personally I have had numerous email/PM conversations with him. I do not believe you will be ripped off by Nick. I do agree that timing in shipping and communication is critical with any online sale. I would say though that a delay is different than theft.

I followed up on the 1084 utility the other day and have not had a response yet. I'll send another PM to Nick to advise him of this thread. I am confident this will all be resolved.

Thanks all..

To clarify a little, I do not feel as though I have been robbed/scammed or anything of that nature. I have not accused him of taking my money or not fulfilling his end of a deal. I do believe that I will receive my knife from Nick, I was just wondering if anyone has heard from him, as I was not the only one to buy one of these knives.

I am also sure, from his posts on here, and our few emails that he is a good guy, and he surely makes fantastic, beautiful knives. I do not mean to accuse him of any wrong doing. Hopefully he and his family are OK.

I do appreciate everyones responses. If it pleases the mods, can we please close/delete the thread I do not want to give a negative opinion/portrayal of someone I do not know personally, Nor do I want to disuade anyone from dealing with Nick. Because, as seen in these responses, he is a really good guy.

My worries have been relieved.

Once again, thanks all

I don't know if this has anything to do with your issue, ISKski, but Nick's dealing with some twat who swiped
some of his blade images and is posting them as his own.

I've been busy so am not really clear about what's happening in that respect
as I just saw the thread title and didn't really have time to read the full thread.
I'll go find out and report back.

As others have mentioned he may be having connection issues as well.
I see your having the thread closed, I'll try to hurry.
Nick=One of the best knife makers around, anywhere.

Excuse the run on sentences and staggered post style.

EDIT: Here's the link http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...e-Tuinstra-is-a-fraud!?highlight=Nick+Wheeler

Nick is as good as they come. You will be fine on this one. Have faith. If Nick hasn't gotten back to you, there's a good reason.

I know paypal sucks, but sometimes it can be helpful.

A. It's been a week. A dispute would be premature. Not everyone is so high strung.
B. Might wanna read the OP before posting. PP is not in the habit of getting involved with sales that have nothing to do with them.

If he is on the forum all day or on the stupid compt. how is he going to get any work done ?? He is a fulltime maker , making to pay rent and take care of a family with a daughter ( do you know how they are ? ). 20 hours a day in the shop does not leave much time for family or sleep .

I live close by , if you really get worried I will go visit , been wanting to since they bought a home and to see his great BIG dogs .

Plus , Texas show is coming up , His stomping grounds .

Chill my friend , all will be well . He also loses a lot of e-mail in his spam filter , I do not know why that is .

I have no dog in this fight but the OP has not been out of line IMO. I buy and sell online frequently, and communication is the norm when money has changed hands. In today's world it is VERY easy to drop an email, pm, what have you, if the MO did arrive and was confirmed I would expect some sort of notification, especially within a week. Now if there are real, legitimate circumstances then that's another story. That being said, if someone pays for something, receiving the payment should be acknowledged, unless serious circumstances prevent one from doing so. When someone sends money off they want to know it arrived safely.

Seems like all you had to ask was , Has anyone seen Nick Wheeler lately??
Going into all of the details is whats seemed very premature.

What was the point of this post?

$64,000 question right there.

With all due respect here, you are very new and have no realistic idea of the elements involved. ;) it just appears that some folks are in a bloody hurry and want everything right now or else. That isn't the way things work out all the time. Learning this lesson early in life saves one from multiple hard knocks. It's best to just sit back, read and learn. ;)
