Nicks and stones

Is it possible to dress the edges of the Sharpmaker stones with some other abrasive to remove small nicks? Some of the edges on my set are dinged a little, so I have to swap the things around to find a nice smooth edge to sharpen with.

You can grind them easily with a SiC waterstone or diamonds, aluminum oxide waterstones don't work well though. I used the corner of a fine sharpmaker rod and gauged a 1/8" deep hole in the side of the stone and could not see any effect on the rod even under magnification. Expect the surface of the ceramic to be rough until it wears smooth.
