Nighthawk lanyard hole?

A buddy of mine has a Buck Nighthawk and he wants a lanyard/thong hole added, so I figured it could probably done by using a drill press. Does anyone have any experience drilling into these knives, and does anyone have any ideas on where I should drill?

No pictures but in post 14 MCK describes what he did and it seems to have worked out OK. CJ Buck seems to confirm it was the right location, although he made the comment 3 posts earlier in post 11??? Maybe there was some PM's between them, who knows.
