I don't know about the legend trial of SEAL knife by SOG.
SOG SEAL knife is fine,as I wached.it has tough blade and hundle.
But,I felt that there is M9 bayonet, same long knife is not needed.
In some time to SOG SEAL,Buck#650Nighthawk has prodeced.Nighthawk and SOG SEAL is resemble in many ability,as I have thought Nighthawk was made for the trial too,and failed. There is no infomation for the trial in Japan.
Is there some record of the trial? Are there other candidates?
And,which do you think better?

Chic,

I know one of the SEALs who was involved in the test for the "Seal Knife". He said that the main reason the Nighthawk wasn't chosen was there were no serrations on the blade. The SEALs sometimes have to cut through ropes pretty fast and serrations are necessary for that. Also, there was no lanyard hole.

Those were the two main reasons that the Nighthawk was rejected. Everyone agreed that it is a great knife, and many believed that, overall, it is a better knife than the SOG. It just didn't have the features that they needed.

I hope that this helps.

Isn't it amazing how 2 cents worth of opinion takes up a quarter's worth of paper???

Please excuse the crayon. They won't let us have anything sharp in here.

No serration...OH!!I feel very pity.It was easy to make serration,as now there is serrated model!
There are no lanyard hole,it is traditional in BUCK.I think it good as I don't use lanyard.

I felt good for your word"Everyone agreed that it is a great knife"very much!!
