How does it hold up to - what??? What are your intentions of use?
It is a great knife! That black coating is probably just from finishing? Is it coming off down to the steel? Or just residue?
I have had a few, loved the handle!!!

I got my short nighthawk a couple days ago, its jsut residue its not comming down to the steel.

Buckaholic, two questions for you. One, are you happy with the Smugmug site and would you recommend it? Second, more to the point of the forum, that is not an official Buck Sheath holding that NightHawk, is it? And if not, what is the company that makes it.
Thank you,
Pam

No thats not the buck sheath, the one that comes with the knife looks like this

I dont know who makes that other one, sorry:(

My handle is all black, is that unusual?

Nope, that was an earlier version thats all, there have been at least a half dozen different "versions" of the nighthawk.

Some have silver bead blasted blade, Black blade, serrated blade, Tanto blade, Black handle and the Od green handle... all different variations of these :D

Hey Pompano_Pam...
Feel terrible that I didn't reply to your inquiry. I just stumbled across it while searching for NightHawk stuff.

I like Smugmug...except it costs a few $$$. What I like is that it's easy to use. I wish it would have the thumbnail gig where you can post a small pic and users can select to make it bigger. Like photobucket. Can't recall why I didn't go with photobucket but Smug works. I also use shutterfly but doesn't your shared albums out for too long.

As for the sheath. It's awesome. Here's a recent post with the link to the place where I obtained it:

Kind Regards...

I just bought a short Nighthawk, and have put it through hell in the short time I've owned it. It has held up very well so far. The black stuff will stop rubbing off after some use and cleaning. I have had to scub mine lately to get it clean, and all the black residue is now gone. My relatively new knife now looks about 10 years old, but I like that!

My next move is to get a sheath like Buckaholic has shown. Love that thing.

I think it was your problems that prompted an anonymous author to write the Photobucket For Dummies guide...
That's the prob Trax. The title. Should be "...For Pillocks". Yeah, I recall that. But wasn't it that MFINDEN jerk?

So, I'm in Smugmug and do a search for "Buck Knife". I have no idea what this pic is about (caption needs translation).

Last night I pulled the trigger on a replacement NightHawk for me and it just happens to look like this...silver blade:
