Nightmare Grind

revdevil, when you have sharpened knives for as long as i have you learn a lot of tricks. even without the paper wheels that knife would be easy. all i need is a piece of wetordry, a piece of glass and a can of pringles

So Richard, I have to know: How many Pringles do you eat while hand-sharpening a single nightmare grind blade? A man with your skills surely does not need the entire can to do one knife;-)

you would be suprised what the pringles have to do with sharpening.

Sour cream and onion flavor is best for recurves. The tanto point would be best done using the original flavor. But out in the field, any flavor will do in a pinch.

sharpening medium? glue some sandpaper to it the box and do the recurve ?

Yes, Richard has mentioned this trick before. I just had to rib him a little over his wording.

Unless you are doing an H1 recurve, the salt-free chips are a safer choice.

pretty clever. i still hate deep recurves ...i don't carry a box of pringles with me usually. so anything that can't be sharpened on a pocket stone is no use for me.

one guy thought i was kidding him when i told him to use a pringles can to sharpen a recurve if you didnt have anything else. you have to bend the can on one side so it forms a corner which allows for you to sharpen the entire blade. cut the bottom off and put your arm through. switch arms for the other side of the blade.

that knife would be gravy for me to sharpen. maybe an extra minute to change wheels.

I believe if I had that, I'd have to let you sharpen it for me. :) My head hurts just thinking about it. Then I don't have the equipment you do. It'd be pretty tough on a flat bench stone.

After reading about the Pringles, I guess I'd have to buy some if I had a knife like that.

Nah! Not my type.

I believe it. I may take you up on the offer to sharpen a ZT 0350 soon. It's got just enough recurve for me to not want to even try it. Ready the Pringles can!
