I believe if I leave the character installed on the unit that the expansion pass is loaded to the Expansion Pass will be usable, which is why I say its included. It may not transfer the Expansion Pass? If not it is a $20 add on at Gamestop or Nintebdo store.

The great thing about this game unit is, it can be played on the TV (any HDMI enabled TV or projector) by using the controller separate from the unit and using the dock, or handheld by attaching the controller to the unit since it has its own screen (awesome color/clarity), or in table top mode because you can remove the controllers and the unit has its own screen and kickstand. Thats three modes you can play in.
The controller is pretty unique as well. It can be used for one player, or you can hand one half of it to another person and you take the other allowing two players for two plater games and both of you have a full controller. Pretty cool because that means you have two controllers everywhere you go. You can buy extras giving you two full controllers and even 4 halves total. New controllers can be "paired" with the console similar to bluetooth.
The power in the console lasts 4+ hours depending on game, and the controllers last 20 hours, before needing charged. There is a charge and play controller available so if the console is docked you can play endlessly without having to dock the controllers to charge. It lasts a long time on one charge.
Another unique feature of this game unit is it allows cartridge games (like the two included], but you can also download games as well giving you tons of game options. (Not included, but available from nintendo store)There are classics which are downloadable like Original Super Mario series, Tetris, Donky Kong, Final Fantasy series through XII, Mega Man series, etc. Games start at about $7 and go to about $55 for new popular titles. There are tons of games under $10, and even free games that can be downloaded. Go checkout Nintendo Switch website to see whats available its crazy!
Its a pretty wide open system with lots of great games. The unit is also pretty unique as I explained above, and very compact for travel as well, and the screen isn't tiny either, and games look just like they do on a tv screen so the experience is the same. The console and controllers have tilt sensors to tell where they are in space. This can be used as a method of control in some games like Zelda and others.
The console is wifi enabled, and allows direct downloading and search capability.
