Well, thanks to Fiddleback, I received my D10 earlier today and thought I would share my opinions. Disclaimer - I am not an electrical engineer or even remotely as informed as some on this site. If you seek technical information or pictures and graphs - go to candlepowerforums.
Now, I've had a few "good" lights - Surefire 8x, 9n, L4 Lumamax - so my "wow" factor will probably be a little more mild than someone that has only owned minimags and what not. Anyway, Once it was completely dark I grabbed my L4 and the D10 and went into the back yard. The L4 has 2 brand new Energizer 123's in and the D10 has a brand new Energizer "ultimate lithium" AA. Here's the amazing part (to me anyway) There isn't very much difference between the 2 lights as far as my eyes could tell. In fact, the D10 appeared to do a better job of illuminating objects that were further away. The L4 had much more sidespill and illuminated a greater area "up close" than the D10, but not by much. I preferred the D10's light by just a tad over the L4 - to my eyes it appeared the L4 had more of a yellow tint and the D10 appears to me as a "cool white" light with maybe a tad of blue tint. I'm impressed with the performance of this light on 1 AA battery, especially at the price. My L4 with a LEO discount was $130 2 years ago (I think they sold in the $180 range). The D10 was $59 shipped and performs "in the ballpark" on a AA battery that you can find anywhere. This will definitely be my new EDC and, for that, I am grateful to Fiddleback (kinda) for pointing me in the right direction via his post. Now, if I can wait at least 1 more year someone will probably come out with a light that puts out 300 lumens and runs for 10 hours on a AAA.
