Nitecore EX10 out of this world!

Does anyone know if the piston system is water "resistant" and are they made in-country or imported? Thanks.

They are very water resistent. Mine gets submerged on nearly a daily basis and often hit by a fire hose while on my wrist. There has yet to be any leakage.

They are made from U.S., Malaysian, and chinese parts with final assembly in China per 4SEVENS

oh man, I wish i would have known you were ordring, I would have suggested ordering from www.4sevens.com

This is the part creator of the light and has them in stock.

you'll love it! I've been carrying mine since I got it and it's a fantastic littl elight. Of course, it's not as bright as my malkoff drop in in my sf d3 defender, but it's kick butt!

take care and enjoy,
brett

oh well. but thx, since im sure ill eventually order the AA version as well!!

Sounds like smknman has put his to harder use than mine, but just as another data point, I can confirm that mine has survived submersion tests. The most I've done at this point is 15 minutes submerged at 1 foot depth. Not the hardest test in the world, but it represents the worst I'll ever do to my D10 and it survived without a single drop getting inside.

As always, proper lube at the o-rings (something like silicon grease) is recommended for best water resistance.

I swam with my EX10 and activated the switch over 25 times at 6 feet deep. No leakages but I re lubed the light when I first got it.

According to NiteCore's specs both the Smart PD lights - D10 (AA) and EX10 (CR123) - are supposed to be waterproof to IPx8.

IPx8 : " The equipment is suitable for continuous immersion in water under conditions which shall be specified by the manufacturer. "

I thought the bits in italics might be a bit loose/lame

IP ratings at Wikipedia - is a bit clearer -

" 8 - immersion beyond 1 m
The equipment is suitable for continuous immersion in water under conditions which shall be specified by the manufacturer.
NOTE: Normally, this will mean that the equipment is hermetically sealed. However, with certain types of equipment, it can mean that water can enter but only in such a manner that produces no harmful effects. "

The IP codes are IPx0 to IPx8 - in increasing water-resistance - so IPx8 is the highest waterproof IP rating.
